Grimly accurate framing here from the local AM station: the minister of forests and the BC NDP government don’t manage these life-giving ecosystems for the hundreds of values they contain, but instead for just one of them, that’s extracted at the expense of the others.

The BC NDP government talks a lot about rebuilding the forest sector, but they don't talk at all about addressing the simple reality that this industry has cut too much, too fast, for too long, in too many places, and that this still continues.

Truly surreal listening to B.C. forest minister @rparmarbc.bsky.social on CBC this morning, celebrating the fact that Western Forest Products (one of the biggest destroyers of non-renewable old-growth forests here) is building hundreds of Starbucks stores in Japan out of western red cedar.

Fast-tracking fossil fuel export projects and pumping public money into a transmission line to power the same has absolutely nothing to do with "resilience."

This is government handouts to corporations and the super rich, nothing else.
It’s time to build the major projects that will move us from reliance to resilience, strengthen our economy, and create high-paying careers across the country.

But under the surface, one that’s being sold as an Indigenous-led LNG project is actually — spoiler — American as hell.

That’s not even the worst part!

What would an actual plan for the public interest look like?
