I see all this stuff about the WUTHERING HEIGHTS movie and how maybe it's not great and they did this with Heathcliff and didn't do that with Heathcliff and I mean I read it once in high school and check me if I'm wrong but: Heathcliff is a butthole, right? He's just a big jerk butthole, f that guy

The 2nd two that you mention, plus... Not really sure what to count as a "flex" but:

STAR WARS (1977, I was 6)
ROBOCOP (1987, no way I wouldn't mention this)
THE TWO JAKES (1990, the sequel to CHINATOWN in which I'm a background extra)
AKIRA (1989 U.S.)
RAISING ARIZONA (1987)
RESERVOIR DOGS (1992)
Have asked this before and always like the responses. What are your biggest “I saw that in the first run cinema” flexes? Couple of mine:

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Office Space (1999)

I wasn't even in the DAWSON'S demo, I enjoyed him more from his self-aware turns in Kevin Smith flicks and DON'T TRUST THE B IN APT 23, but it was enough to recognize how tragically too soon this is. RIP to the Beek
James Van Der Beek, who starred in the teen drama series "Dawson’s Creek," has died at 48

CURRENT READING

SENSE & SENSIBILITY by A Lady. I've read a third of Jane Austen's six "great novels" (PRIDE & PREJUDICE, EMMA) but never a word of, or even a movie version of, this one. I'm like 2 chapters in and I already know I'm going to love it too. I may also get to the remaining 3 this year

I don't really understand why but there's a lot of talk right now about A POLISH VAMPIRE IN BURBANK, a film with Eddie Deezen that was made for couch cushion change, that I remember getting a kick out of on '80s late night cable, so sure, I'll add another hashtag to the pile

Alt: A gif of Eddie Deezen from WAR GAMES maybe? It was the only Eddie Deezen gif Bluesky had

Can he be Seattle's mayor too?
New York City: The time has arrived. Finally, a chance to tell the city EXACTLY what your landlord’s been getting away with. NYC’s first Rental Ripoff Hearings are happening in all five boroughs, and we want to hear from you. Real New Yorkers. Real stories. Real policy changes.

Laura Dern did the Criterion Closet and basically said "One of each, please," and SHE STILL DIDN'T PICK ROBOCOP. Some day one of these cowards will pick ROBOCOP and to them I will pledge my fealty

There's a guy outside the library sometimes who talks to the wall about how Jerry Garcia is his father and he himself is Satan and all the famous women he plans to "inseminate" and he has never said shit this demented
Trump, in the middle of his latest unhinged Truth Social screed, claims that if Canada makes a trade deal with China, "the first thing China will do is terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada, and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup."

If Minneapolis protests have done nothing else they have taught me that dildos have an expiration date apparently

If you can listen to Def Leppard's "Switch 625" without making involuntary rock face like Este Haim then you and I are very different people

This was a hell of a one-two punch for little 12-year-old Tom, rocking out to Def Leppard's "Bringin' on the Heartbreak/Switch 625." And you HAVE to listen to them together, they're like "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions," one does not exist without the other

Anyway before I got distracted I wanted to post a clip of Shonen Knife covering "Rock 'n' Roll High School" by the Ramones so here is a clip of Shonen Knife covering "Rock 'n' Roll High School" by the Ramones

I don't even know where to start. An entire book could be written about how specific a time this one clip represents. VIVA VARIETY is nigh-inexplicable with 10,000 words, let alone 300 characters. Shonen Knife covering the Monkees. Random John Waters. A VCR watermark. I love this stem to stern

I wish I had a gold medal just so I could very publicly refuse an invitation to the White House.

Also I think those things are real gold, I could probably get 50 bucks
