Raymond Kennedy's RIDE A COCKHORSE. A charismatic but literally insane con artist seizes power and wreaks havoc. But this version is funny! (Mostly.) A loan officer who snaps and becomes a tyrant, the main character is a role Kathleen Turner could have won an Oscar for. Dark but fun

Sarah J. Mass' THRONE OF GLASS. Despite me making fun of some of the clumsy writing, it was okay. Light and quick. I might read another one sometime.

A post from yesterday says "3 saves." Is this new? Have I just never noticed it before? What the heck is it? I can click and see where the likes come from, but not the saves. After 2000 posts do I still not know how Bluesky works?

"she said softly, but not meekly"

"he said softly, but not weakly"

This is making me desperate, but not serious

"She wouldn’t be humiliated by anything, least of all being dirty." Four paragraphs later: "She looked at her rags and stained skin, and she couldn’t suppress the twinge of shame." I hate to nitpick (not true I love it) but this whole book so far is like this - she's a badass, but actually she sucks

Define "Perfect Ending"

"Nice shootin', son. What's your name?"
"Murphy."

SOON TO BE READING:

Sarah J. Maas, THRONE OF GLASS. My tolerance for silly fantasy character names has plummeted over the years, so I'm not wild that, per Wiki, "Aelin Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius, also known as Celaena Sardothien, is the main protagonist". But I hear it's good, so I'll be brave

Kazuo Ishiguro's NEVER LET ME GO, another heartbreaking masterpiece that made me tear up and get the shivers at the end. Ishiguro is a genius at making those small details of a life feel epically important and devastating, and that applies to the lives in this book moreso than usual

YA fantasy with a heartfelt friendship between the two leads. Funny, thrilling, with art that made me grin ear-to-ear. Gorgeous stuff, highly recommended! With other recent reads I guess I'm a tween girl now, and that's ok

I should know by now. One mention of a legend on my timeline, "Oh, that's nice." Two mentions...

RIP Diane Keaton. I'll mention a movie no one else has yet, a movie that basically doesn't exist anymore, which I saw way too young and has an ending that scarred my little mind, LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR

So this DC KO business, this looked like a goofy tie-in to a mobile game that I could just ignore. But this is actually the main DC continuity? This is, for real, what all the DC books are going to be about for the next few months? A March Madness bracket? Wait, what? Come on. Seriously? Come on.

CURRENT READING: Kazuo Ishiguro's NEVER LET ME GO. I'm surprised to realize I've only ever read Ishiguro's 1st 3 books, the 3rd of which, THE REMAINS OF THE DAY, is one of the ten best books I've ever read. Looking forward to this, despite already knowing more about the story than I probably should
