I’m not surprised, but still shocked at the same time.
NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

Think about it...WTF does it say about these CEOs dining with Trump at this time.
Trump wines and dines Wall Street CEOs as Congress is voting to sign away our healthcare for a temporary pause to the government shutdown.

They get the glitzy dinner, we pay the bill. Every time.

I find this to be an interesting next step. I think it could make for a defining issue in January.
Now that Dems have capitulated, at the very least they should now make every future extension of funding contingent on Trump following the law. Any lawbreaking must be met with: No more votes from us, period.

My exchange with @brianbeutler.bsky.social on that point:

In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

Shouldn’t part of our strategy be to pressure House Rs to sign the Epstein discharge petition so the Rs can cut a deal? If one does a deal becomes possible. If not, they are even more screwed politically

Hopeful graph
Independents blame Trump and the GOP for the shutdown by a 2:1 margin.

Trump’s approval with people under 30 has completely cratered.

63% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s management of the federal government.

We have a BINGO
The whole Third Term Project isn’t actually about Trump. The people behind it know he will likely be dead or enfeebled by 2029. It is about them, the vastly unpopular group around Trump, wanting to grift us forever without elections.

Let's be clear: there's funding available to cover SNAP benefits next month. Trump is stopping SNAP benefits because he wants to. He is forcing mommas and babies to go hungry.

While I appreciate Rosa's leadership I'm not sure it is about political will - I think it is more about intentional cruelty.
Rep. Rosa DeLauro: "On the food stamp issue, the money is there! Let them not get away with saying they can't do it. Their political will isn't there to feed the people who rely on the SNAP program which is the most effective anti-hunger program in the USA."

And former chief counsel for nominations to Grassley on Judiciary.

This was someone who came to where he is at now right through the middle of the “traditional” GOP elites’ path.

I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion, after getting $1.2 trillion richer over the past year alone.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country is getting squeezed by tariffs and high prices for groceries, utilities, and health care.

The system is broken.
