Fun to see Pete Alonso become the Mets’ all-time home run leader. True sluggers don’t come along very often. Anyhoo, I enjoyed creating this back page in the olden days of 2019 when I was with the Daily News. Alonso breaking Aaron Judge’s short-lived rookie home run record.

Great milestone for Pete Alonso. Mets fans certainly want him to be a Met for life. I wonder how this offseason will go on his next contract. Hard to imagine him in a different uniform, but getting a deal done likely won’t be easy. #LGM

Ok. I've got concerns about the Mets now. Gotta get out of this offensive funk. Too many good hitters. #LGM

Helluva comeback to beat the O’s. Totally different vibe than than just a week ago. Out of the slump. Senga and Manaea ready to return. Top of the order raking at the same time. How about a 5-1 road trip to head into the All-Star break? And Soto getting rightfully added to the NL stars? #LGM

Soto snubbed. Slow start but his numbers are All-Star worthy. #LGM

Get out and vote, NYC. No matter who wins the primary, it’s important to be part of the process, and NYC is reliably awful at turning out to vote. Now, I just wish I could cast a ballot for the Mets to emerge from their slump. #NYCvote #LGM

As a mass transit enthusiast, I was excited to take the tube in London for the first time. It’s easy to navigate and efficient. Five stars. The only eyebrow raiser is the choice of upholstered seats. @lulu1138.bsky.social

That top of the fourth inning... an absolute gem of a defensive effort by the Mets. Three Amazin' highlight reel plays, back-to-back-to-back. #LGM

Some kinda heater this Mets team is on. Sure it’s April. But sweeping the Phillies is always awesome. #LGM

I cannot emphasize enough that the New York City subway is not scary. It’s one of my favorite parts of living here. I grew up in the suburbs having to drive on highways everywhere and that’s way scarier

I’m really ready for baseball season to start. This should be a formidable Mets team. Lindor, Soto, Alonso, Vientos, Nimmo, Alvarez is lineup that can do damage. #LGM

Great company if Soto-Alonso can get there. And Lindor has been hanging around 30 too. Should be a tough lineup to face.
Pete Alonso is projected for 36 HR and Juan Soto is projected for 35 HR, per Steamer

Mets duos with 35+ HR in the same season:

2006 Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado
1987 Howard Johnson, Darryl Strawberry

Lots more data to collect, but everything so far has been extremely encouraging on congestion pricing.
NEW: There's been a 51-percent drop in injuries an a 55-percent drop in crashes year-over-year within the congestion relief zone in just the first 12 days of the program. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/01/23/c...

Isn’t it about time for the resolution people to quit the gym? Sweet merciful crap. There should be congestion pricing for the gym. Make people think if they want to get a membership they’re only gonna use for 2-3 weeks in January.
