Based on immersive, night-time ethnographic methods—including narrative interviews, walk-alongs and sensory observations—this study examines the lived geographies of crime and fear in the everyday urban margins. While extensive literature on fear of crime exists in Western contexts, Global South research remains uneven, with limited attention to how fear is shaped by infrastructural neglect and marginality. In developing countries like India, such place-based, embodied studies remain limited, especially in low-income residential contexts. Findings reveal that night-time fear is deeply gendered, relational, and amplified by territorial stigma and infrastructural neglect. Women deploy everyday tactics—rerouted paths, bodily discipline, walking in groups—to manage insecurity. The paper contributes to scholarship on crime, marginality and emotional geographies by showing how fear is not only a response to threats but a force that reshapes urban life. It calls for a more grounded, context-sensitive understanding of urban safety and affirms the right to move, dwell and be visible in the city after dark. By situating fear as a spatial force that (re)organises urban life after dark, this paper contributes to debates on emotional geographies, urban marginality and the nocturnal geographies of fear of crime in the Global South.

That's quite the gap to overcome.
This week, consultants at Bain & Co. estimated the wave of AI infrastructure spending will require $2 trillion in annual AI revenue by 2030. By comparison, that is more than the combined 2024 revenue of Amazon, Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta and Nvidia, and more than five times the size of the entire global subscription software market. Morgan Stanley estimates that last year there was around $45 billion of revenue for AI products. The sector makes money from a combination of subscription fees for chatbots such as ChatGPT and money paid to use these companies’ data centers.

This is one of the best ideas I've heard in ages.
Reddit post on r/technology about young people and AI: "I recently heard about a teacher who instead of trying to circumvent students using AI, which is impossible, she made assignments by going "ask ChatGPT to write a report on this subject, and then research how and why it's wrong". Not only did the students discover that ChatGPT is extremely wrong a lot of the time, it also lead them to realise that they should not use it as a primary source".

Hoje sou ateu não praticante, anarquista com A minúsculo e sem carteirinha.

O que mudou muito o modo de pensar e expressar o (que entendo como) meu radicalismo foi trabalhar pelo interior com populações do campo (agricultores, indígenas, ribeirinhos e etc).
