You're not going to see a lot of political posts from me because I've seen this shitshow and I know my posts aren't going to move the needle.

Know that I support LGBTQ and BLM and I call out bigotry where it counts - in person and I've discarded many so called RL friends because of it.
I don't know if all old cars have the less annoying feature of a gentle, easily dismissed, tone or tones when you don't have your seatbelt fastened, but I appreciate my 2004 Silverado and 2009 HHR for not punishing me relentlessly like newer cars. Most of my travel in this seaside town is < 30.

I've seen a several other Oregon plates on cars down here in Baja. I've also seen some Ontario plates! That's another 800-1,000 miles further than I drove!

You don’t know your role yet maybe, but we are all finding out just what we have to offer.

In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said “Bring me your clothing”.

IMPORTANT: The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart governments do the math on investing in better mobility.

Let’s be clear— it WASTES public money to NOT do it.

Made it to Los Barriles. What a long drive. Baja has some of the most beautiful and desolate landscapes from Mexicali to LB.

My 2009 Chevy HHR performed admirably, getting me here safe.

My USB-BT adapter failed so I had to rely on my little Marshall speaker instead of the car's.

My only as (for federal) would be to clarify the president can't do all the shit he has been doing without congressional and Senate approval
I think the last 24 hours in VA are a stronger indication of what the Democratic Party platform will be in 2026 and going forward than the feeble quaverings of Chuck Schumer.
The Virginia legislature today passed four constitutional amendments, all by day 3 of 2026 session:

—protect abortion rights
—repeal the same-sex marriage ban
—allow mid-decade redistricting
—greatly expand voting rights restoration.

These will all go to 2026 referendums.

It's been ages since I drove 12 hours in one day but I made it to San Jose. Visiting a friend then it's a shorter 10hr day to brawley.

Car performed great. Uneventful other than the bugs splattering on my windshield as I drove past the rice fields.

Amanda Gorman wrote this poem for Renee Good and that’s it for me tonight.

2,103 miles. That is the trip I'm starting on Monday. It's a LOOONG drive. One that I've never done before and am both excited and scared of something going wrong with my car.

I'm doing this because I'll be in Baja for 4 months and car rental is over $1,500 a month. Having my own car will save $$

Fascinating
Happy new year! My all sky camera imaged the sky every 15 seconds and this picture shows what happened in the sky in 2025. It shows the length of the night and day with the hourglass shape, the monthly lunar cycle with the diagonal bands, the elevation of the Sun at local noon, and lots of clouds.

@wweek.com I've come to rely on your calendar & for some reason today it is down. Nothing showing. Might want to raise this up to who can fix it.

Thanks!

I'd like to recommend the movie Smoke, with Harvey Keitel and William Hurt, for containing one of the absolute best Xmas stories ever. Granted it's the last 15min of this wonderful movie, but the argument can be made the entire movie leads up to it.

EXCLUSIVE: We found that Instacart is using AI algorithms to charge customers different prices for the same items.

It's not just online. It's in physical grocery stores too.

Our months-long investigation with @consumerreports.org and @groundwork.bsky.social found it could cost families $1200/year.

This is jaw dropping. I mean on one hand, you know something is going on with grocery prices, but this is a very large study not only confirming, but identifying exactly what is going on.
