I saw Laura van der Heijden play the Saint Sains cello concerto. Simply brilliant. Remarkable that it’s nearly 9 years since I first saw her perform over on the Isle of Man. www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of...

In 1900, Lancashire Rugby League team beat Westmorland 15-0. Incredible to see players from long extinct village teams (Staveley, Ambleside & Holme) and that there was a T Fawcett from Holme. Mick Fawcett is a legendary cricketer for Holme Cricket Club playing on until at least the late 1990s.

Swinton Lions' average home attendance for the 2025 season is around 843 spectators per game. In 1900 6950 attended their game v Salford, a crowd that was described as disappointing. #1900

Crikey. Preston are 2-0 up. That goal from Osmajic was worthy of Jon Parkin in his prime #theBeast

Surely with a goalie like this Madrid fellow it’s not fair unless you increase the size of his goal.

In 1938 a frog created a world record by jumping 15 ft at the International Frog Jumping held at Angels Camp, California. That was beaten in 1986 by a frog named Rosie the Ribeter, achieving a leap of 21 ft 5¾ in. Next year's comp will be held on May 14-17, 2026 so start training your frog!

What an innings by Nadine de Klerk. How on earth is she batting at number 8, and with that confidence and ability how is this her highest score? Remarkable #CWC25 #SAvIND

CEO pay is up 1,094% since 1978, while worker pay is up just 26%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

I was at Worcester in 1975 when Worcestershire became the first team to score over 300 in a 40 overs game (actually in 38 because of Derbyshire’s slow over rate). That was thought to be extraordinary.

How the game has changed in 50 years #ENGvSA

I suppose Amorim can console himself with the fact that there will soon be a vacancy at Ibrox. Or will a modern day Mark Robins stand up?
