I have gained a few followers I don’t know IRL, so introducing myself seems polite:

My name’s Becky. Among other things, I am an editor, nerd, feminist, liberal, and pagan.

I believe black lives matter; abortion should be legal; and housing, food, and water are human rights, as is migration.

The amount of job postings I see that want publishing professionals to train AI is absolutely mind blowing.

Asking editors to train your AI is like asking prisoners to build a gallows.

I will not be complicit in constructing the mechanism of my own eradication.

Fuck off.

Happy Beltane!

Today is the official relaunch of @ladyfairemagazine.bsky.social, and I'm so honored to have one of my short stories featured in its inaugural issue!

Vantage Points is a piece that's near and dear to my heart, and I'm so excited to finally share it with the world!

My brilliant, remarkable best friend needs surgery and only has 30 days to raise the necessary funds.

Please give if you can, and if you can't, please share.

I know things are dire everywhere, and I wouldn't ask if it weren't absolutely necessary.

Please. The world is better with her in it.

This is a checklist of things you can do, probably should do, resources, ideas, ways to move forward.

“I just don’t know what to do!!” shouldn’t be something you say now.

We've heard concerning things about the Social Security Administration lately, so I decided to check for myself.

SSA says Wednesday is the best day to call, so I called then.

Their system told me there would be a two-hour wait time, told me to call back, and then just hung up.

Lost my job today because Trump gutted the renewable energy sector and caused my company to lose a ton of contracts.

If you were vaccinated before 1969, you need a booster!

If you were vaccinated between 1969 and 1989, you MAY need a booster! (I did!)

If you aren't sure, you can get your titers tested! If getting your titers tested is too expensive, you can just get a booster anyway because doing so is harmless!

So, Congress is literally ceding their power now.
Republicans just snuck a provision surrendering power to revoke Trump's tariffs into a procedural vote. All Dems opposed. Every Republican who voted for this will own the economic consequences of expanding Trump's tariff powers. Statement with @repdelbene.bsky.social:

The Monkey was just okay… it needed to lean harder into its own absurdity instead of struggling to insert drama and pathos into what obviously should have been a straightforward horror comedy.

None of us needed that many angsty father-son driving scenes.

I am so tired of the death of ownership.

No, I will not pay $1.99/month for an app for the rest of my life. I do not need any app that badly.

I will happily pay a significant upfront cost, but I am NOT paying a monthly fee.

I will die on this hill. if I can't own it, I don't want it.
