Last night I took my 13 yo to The Park Theatre to see Jade LeMac. It was my 13 yo’s first concert! I’m so glad this was her first concert experience. The crowd was young and lively, singing loudly and clearly enjoying the show. The energy was so great! Wonderful way to spend a Saturday night. 🩷

Almost done listening to Alchemised. It’s so good! Looking for my next audiobook. Any recommendations for lengthy epic fantasy audiobooks that will destroy me? #booksky

Hubby and 13 yo sent me this picture while they were out running errands. The car was shellacked in ice. In January. In Winnipeg. 😳

This sounds perfect. 🤩
Today we kicked off year 3 of Pastauary which is a holiday my husband and I invented. To celebrate Pastauary you just go out for pasta a bunch of times in January. 🤷‍♀️😅🍝 All are welcome to observe!

I love that people do Veganuary, but my family would revolt. Instead, I’m trying to incorporate some plant based meals, even if I am the only person who eats them. This is a bean and vegetable soup, seasoned with some oregano, summer savoury, salt, pepper and a drizzle of chili pepper olive oil.

2025 was filled with great reads. Some standouts include James by Percival Everett, Bury Our Bones by V.E. Schwab, and One Day We All Will Have Been Against This by Omar El Akkad.

Terms I'd like the media to leave behind in 2025 :

"non-consensual sex" (It's rape. You mean rape, so say that. We don't call bar fights 'non-consensual boxing' for a reason!)

"underage girls" (Girls are a category on their own. If you mean girl, say girl. If you mean woman, say woman.)

The ramen noodles were a bit soft, without that distinctive chew. The recipe I used called for baked baking soda as a substitute for kansui. Maybe I’ll try a different recipe next time. The marinated eggs were delicious. I’ll definitely make the eggs again. #foodsky

I’m finished knitting a baby blanket (not for me)! I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I did have to pick back a row or two more than once, as the lace pattern required more focus than I thought it would. #knitsky

Does anyone have a good spritz cookie recipe? I use the Bon Appetit recipe, with the Oxo Good Grips cookie press, and they are okay, but not great. Thanks! #bakesky #wpg #holidaybaking

Day after a blizzard, and -33 C with the windchill, and I cannot convince the 13 yo that it is cold enough for a scarf and her warmest coat. 🙃

Dear men: If you aren't speaking against misogyny while no women are in the room, you're not an ally.

If you aren't calling out misogyny when you see it used against women in real time, you're not an ally.

If you use misogyny against horrible women, you are not an ally.

Your actions reveal you.

Canada budget: AI is going to do an awful lot apparently. We can cut lots of money, AI will deliver instead!

Public safety? AI will deliver
RCMP? You guessed it, AI will save the day
Fisheries? Yup
ESDC? Also on the AI train
CRA? See above

Gosh I hope this AI thing works out

Yes! This!
+ women are not a special interest group! We are not homogenous! We are half the population!

That seems to be missing from the discourse every single time.

As we await the federal budget, a reminder that social programs, access to basic needs like housing, food, etc. are not "Good to have" - they are essential.

"We'll get to addressing violence, poverty, homophobia, racism, etc. once we deal with the tariffs" is bad economic policy AND absolute BS.
