Former baby.
We should re-ban stock buybacks. Short of that, they should charge companies a 100% premium on shares they buy. The extra money goes towards shares bought on behalf of the employees at that same company for their retirement fund. Treat it like a pension with vestment periods for years of service.

A proposal: a class action lawsuit against American billionaires for infringing on the working class’ pursuit of happiness.
Assets & wealth are seized from billionaires until they are millionaires again. The seized wealth is put in a public trust, its use is voted by the citizenry every 5 years.

Feels redundant to say out loud but if “criminals” are denied a day in court to prove their innocence, everyone becomes guilty the moment they are accused. This is how fascist governments silence critics, normalizing arrests for “criminals” without due process to then be applied to dissenters.

It's so weird that the economy only shits the bed when the Conservative party has power...must be a leftist conspiracy.

The White House Press Corp needs to ask Trump if his golfing is interfering with the Presidency when Trump claims to be unaware of a very big news story.

If the Dems need more material for a fillibuster they can start to detail all of the crimes the Trump family has committed over the years.
That should eat up a few hours. @aoc.bsky.social

The New York Times is the first to put out comprehensive estimates on the cost of a year without U.S.A.I.D. and they’re higher than I thought:
- 1.65 million deaths from AIDS
- 500,000 from lack of vaccines
- 550,000 from lack of food aid
- 290,000 from malaria
- 310,000 from TB
Killing children is by design, I'm afraid. "Pro-natalists" like Musk claim they aren't racist, but their pressure to have children is solely focused on white women, while they back policies that literally kill of non-white children.

He's a eugenicist.

Opinion | Musk Said No One Has Died Since Aid Was Cut. That Isn’t True.
A journey through the front lines of global poverty shows that when the world’s richest men slash aid for the world’s poorest children, the result is sickness, starvation and death.

When Trump effectively shuts down the NLRB, corporate bosses can illegally fire workers who are trying to form a union and flagrantly violate labor laws.

Today, I am reintroducing the PRO Act to strengthen unions, and restore power and legal rights to workers.

This vote was to start the process of the cuts. It WILL come back for a final vote.

There are some chances to slow or potentially stop it. Need constant pressure on GOP

Focus on GOP swing seats & key committees. Energy & Commerce is where the Medicaid fight will go down. Ways&Means for tax fight.
@aoc.bsky.social
Please explain what just happened. Is there no way to stop this w the reconciliation to be used by GOP to get around the filibuster? Are we sunk?

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Watching the country slide in to feudalism is tough, but at least i can take solace in the Democrats always maintaining decorum. Manners and adhering to tradition are super useful in fighting against fascism.

75 million votes versus 77.3 million votes is a lot closer than we were lead to believe on election night. The inability to confirm if my vote was properly counted is a huge issue in our election process.
Did my vote even count?
Not to be a sore loser or anything, but the GOP spent 4 years telling us they were installing sycophants in key positions of power in the election process. The 2024 election goes red across the board, even in entrenched blue areas ground was lost, and nobody is batting an eye?

I will never understand the social tradition of traumatizing our collective sleep cycles to stay up late and then immediately demanding everyone get back on their work week schedule the next night.

In the meantime, as a reader: don’t trust any articles attributed to “staff,” and don’t trust any articles that don’t include quotes from scientists completely uninvolved in the original publication. Science is a gradual, meandering, back and forth process; sometimes we have to let it play out.
