Just 2 episodes left of #pluribus & I'm still loving this weird experiment of a show. The sense of isolation, even when in nature, was really compelling in the latest episode. Seeing how it can strengthen or chip away a character's resolve, how vastly altered the world is, & how it goes on w/o us...

I admit #pluribus is extending out the plot & it certainly isn't for everyone. For me personally, I'm still enjoying it because I like seeing how the characters live in this changed world. I see it as character study of the new world & those who are left in it. But I like experimental stuff, so 🤷.
the most recent episode is kind of a perfect example, an hour or whatever of TV designed to impress, but what did anyone actually get out of it except understanding that this dude is obstinate as fuck, which we already knew? what was revealed other than the show having a massive budget and good DP?

Latest episode of #pluribus further digs into Carol's personality & how "abrasive" women & American perspectives are seen by others. Seeing a main character fall to "Main Character Syndrome" is wild. Really love the emotional gut punches. Intrigued how it will progress when Carol & ?? meet.

An excellent writeup & critique of the "controversial" game 'Horses', which has a place in gaming art & is far tamer than many celebrated works, both in & out of gaming. 'Horses' is a bizarrely inspired, though clunky, criticism of abuse, slavery, & power that does not warrant bans nor controversy.
Despite the controversy, Horses is only shocking if you're unfamiliar with the history movies, theater, literature, or basically any art form that does not have stats. aftermath.site/horses-indie-g...
Horses Is Tame
Horses, the indie game that is too scandalous for either Valve or Epic, is only beyond the pale if you're not familiar with any other art form.

What do you think Carol found in #pluribus ?

My guess: Stacks of Wycaro books with a sign that jusy says, "Trash."

Well #pluribus Carol is peak mystery vlogger.

Vince, these cliffhangers. The payoff must be incredible, or flop considerably.

Every now and then we get some very nice cinematography. Carol working till sunset was nicely done. Seehorn acted the hell out of that video. The drone too.

I like #OuterWorlds2 but wish they went further with Auntie's Choice uniform / armor designs. I want them plastered with ads for Auntie products like NASCAR drivers. Also wish characters were more uniquely animated. #Obsidian does good work, but often feels a bit lacking.

Carol reminds me of The Irresponsible Scientist roles in old scifi movies, but instead of being an egocentric egghead she's a romantasy author dealing (or not) with personal shit. Feel bad for this particular individual, Zosia, bearing the brunt of Carol's "tests."

Tuned into Criterion Channel on a Japanese movie from maybe the 60s that looked like a drama. Twenty minutes later, I'm asking why this guy's Frankenstein is so huge & fighting a dragon dog kaiju that's shooting Frankenstein with lasers. The magic of entering a movie without know it's name. #film 🎥

It's hard to say which is better, the #pluribus character drama study of Carol or the larger scope of its ideas and their implications. Rhea Seehorn has me pausing to just process her expressions and the whole cast is acing the hive mind. Special shout out to Robert Bailey, Jr. as DHL Guy.

Hot take I guess: CO:E33 shouldn't win GoTY, though it likely will. E33 had cool visual design & interesting combat, but the writing was misogynistic, full of tropes, & cliché. Exploring the world & areas was a chore with clunky movement. Female characters are pushed aside & infantacized.

Just in time for the holidays. Enjoy your fucked traveling, USA.
The DOT also reportedly plans to rescind requirements that airlines disclose junk fees. It's also planning to redefine what flight cancellations would require refunds for passengers.

Both Delta and United gave $1 million to the Trump inauguration fund.

Everything is for sale.
BREAKING: The Trump administration is officially withdrawing a Biden-era plan to require airlines to pay passengers cash compensation when flight disruptions are caused by the airlines.

Anyone know how this will effect sales of products in legalized states? Not sure if they rely on the same hemp crops for production. Actually rooting for the industry tycoons on lobbying against this fight.

An excellent piece on crafting characters, plots, and the alchemy of storytelling. While it is a bit long, it's worth the time.

Tim Robinson's comedy is such a conflict for me. I enjoy weird surrealism, but can't stand cringe & yelling as humor. Tried 2 eps of The Chair Company & that's all for me. It has some funny ideas & actors I like, but feels too male ragey & makes light of others' trauma. Not for me.

#Pluribus is on solid ground so far (sometimes in the air too). The first 2 eps are tight & excellent practices of visual storytelling. Also very contemporary formed. We're getting some smart contempo media as of late. Excited to see where it goes. Everything's 💯% Ep2 opening 👩‍✈️!

'Fantastic 4: First Steps' is a visually slick film with a middling script that gives us glimpses of complex characters that are sadly largely reduced flat by a typical plot that doesn't capitalize on its stellar cast. Cool designs & solid performances only go so far.

Watching de Palma's 'Obsession' (1976) and the highlight so far is the dramatically scored shots of this very shocked cathedral.

Enjoyed #Peacemaker S2. Another heartfelt exploration of its characters that adds new dimensions to the genre. My biggest complaint may be the ending's pacing (both dragging & rushed) & its 2 self indulgent band performances. Also reverts to an MCU next story setup. Still good though.

Something I've yet to see an article about is connecting Trump's history of shady construction and property valuations with this "project." Obviously his initial lies of its size and costs (sound familiar?) are a problem, but can we expect it to get better? This reeks of Trump's typical playbook.
