Hello, Bluesky!

I'm a nerd whose main interests are a story from 2015 about a socially-awkward time-traveller and her headstrong companion who dies many times, and a story from 2015 about a socially-awkward time-traveller and his headstrong companion who dies many times.

Bit of a tricksy answer, but ... well, how often do you watch something and think, "That might be the best 10 minutes of fiction I've ever seen"?

The final 10 minutes of the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who managed it, with me. Three top-tier scenes, one after the other.

The members who did the "don't follow illegal orders" video absolutely need to immediately do a "hey these were the illegal orders we were talking about and participating in them can expect to face consequences to the fullest extent of the law" video
Uniformed military are involved in this shambolic behavior and they all need to be held to account

A primary goal of the discussion now on dragging dem pols to do the right thing has to be on widespread accountability and where appropriate prosecutions of significant numbers of servicemembers

"Zip-line"?!

...Well, I assume that means I'll be playing Death Stranding a lot, as that's a lot more likely than me ever using one in real life.

Watching E.T. for the first time in decades, I remembered about the edited anniversary edition that replaced some of the pistols with walkie-talkies.

If anyone has seen that version, PLEASE tell me that they replaced the shotguns with, like, giant walkie-talkies too.

I'm looking at YOU, The War Between the Land and the Sea.
My resolution for 2026 is no more movie or TV scenes of characters awkwardly reading off a teleprompter, pausing, the audience murmurs in concern, and then they go off script and absolutely crush the speech.

I'm Rob; I like fantasy books, maths and physics, ancient stuff and mythology, linguistics and music, British wildlife, and a whole bunch of other stuff. And I might occasionally mention Doctor Who

The idea that a funding organization in Finland "commissioned" a study about Warhammer is very funny, and sorta ignores the arduous process where I applied for 20 different grants during a period of 3 years before getting funded.
It's now possible to get a PhD in Warhammer studies (and get paid for it)
The Finnish Foundation for Economic Education just awarded one student $30k to fund her doctoral research into Warhammer's worldbuilding.

That's why I try to spread positivity, joy, hope, and optimism in any way I can.

Because I wanna eliminate negativity, doomerisn, defeatism, fatalism, and cynicism by any means necessary.
Social media algorithms really do reward negativity, hate, and cynicism.

It's why social media is so toxic to the point where simply expressing enjoyment of something is enough for people to harass the person enjoying that thing.
