There have been 4 by-elections since the 2023 provincial election, giving Albertans in Lethbridge, Edmonton, & Olds a chance to reconsider which party they support.

The UCP has lost 3 and lost support in the 4th.

Danielle Smith wants you to feel the UCP are unstoppable.

They are not. ✊🏾

Well teachers *aren’t* doing any of that, so there’s no problem here.

As a parent I’m also not enthusiastic about *the government* torquing the curriculum, politicizing education about the human body and how it works, or blocking access to health care for some kids…All based on internet lies.
From the DM’s…

Tonight in #yeg Danielle Smith said that she believes that “teachers should not be getting in between that relationship between kids & their parents”.

Seemingly indicating that she believes that’s a problem on scale with “pornography in schools” & chemtrails

There is absolutely no point to police disciplinary processes.

None.

They should drop the artifice. It’s a farce and a waste of everyone’s time.

Thanks for highlighting the importance of having local representatives who will stand up for Edmontonians. I talked about this in a CBC interview a few weeks ago, and make it a pillar of my campaign platform (ashleysalvador.com).

I've been hesitant to write something like this because I didn't want to give oxygen to Alberta separatists. The conversation alone is dangerous.

But with the threshold to a separation referendum lowered so dramatically, we can't let myths out there go unchecked. www.coreyhogan.ca/p/three-albe...

@coreyhogan.ca @heathermcpherson.bsky.social I just had Alberta Republican party show up at my door. After the satisfaction of telling them to fuck off wore off, Im now just worried. What are you going to do to swing back hard at these loons and the extremist premier catering to them?

Growing western alienation is a tantalizing storyline and it gets clicks and eyeballs, I'm sure, but it is not borne out by the facts.

Alberta-first identity is on the decline, not increase.
Loud voices might make you think otherwise, but Albertans are more committed to Canada, not less:

"While 22% identify primarily as Albertan, more than 3/4 see themselves as Canadian... support for an Alberta-first identity [is below the 28%] found in 2020."

One in four people in Alberta identify as Albertans first, Canadians second, Nanos poll finds
But poll also suggests that voluble separatist forces in the province only represent small fraction of the population

Where does Danielle Smith’s loyalty lie?
To be charitable, perhaps it is not that Alberta Premier Danielle Smith doesn’t love her country, but that she loves Big Oil more.

Bad take. Albertans are not so brittle, our opinions are not so homogenous, and we are much more committed to democracy than Preston seems to believe.

Picking up your ball and leaving because you "lose"? That's loser talk.

But we're not losers. Albertans will continue to support a strong Canada.
Opinion: Mark Carney poses a threat to national unity
If he remains prime minister after this election, there is a very real possibility that Western Canada will move to secede
