I served 21 years in Parliament but in the last caucus I gave up even trying to offer advice because I could never pass the increasingly rigid purity tests.
Thank you @heathermcpherson.bsky.social for reminding us that social democracy needs to be social and democratic.

The lawn sign for my school trustee candidate showed up today. And it has the most adorable little knitted “hat.”

“President Trump thinks we are probably going to cave in. We are going to stand up to a bully. We will not back down.”

Mark Carney, when he was campaigning for votes four months ago.

Trump doesn’t negotiate, he bullies. The only way to negotiate with a bully is to stand up to him. Caving on the digital tax sends a signal that Canada will continually roll over.

Alberta as we know it today simply would not exist without the millions of immigrants and refugees who built it, who loved it, and who were proud to call it home - including my grandparents and my mum. This bitter xenophobia is as unAlbertan as it’s possible to be. I’m ashamed. I’m disgusted.

Interesting to listen to Conservative strategists discuss the main problem facing their party at the moment: how to confront a Carney Liberal government that has taken on all of Poilievre’s policies.

Bill C-2 allows the government to deny & deport refugee claimants without a hearing.

This is a bill presented by Mark Carney's Liberals, who promised to be different from Conservatives.

This is why it's important to have a lot of NDP MPs in parliament.

The Edmonton Journal did actual journalism, broke a story after months of effort, and then waited two days to put it in their dead tree edition. 🤦‍♂️

Adriana LaGrange is the Minister of Primary and “Preventative” Health Services. She announced yesterday that Albertans will now have to pay $110 for COVID vaccines.

Make it make sense.

Making people pay for vaccines, while measles rates skyrocket, may be the most bananas thing Danielle Smith has ever done. And that’s a high bar. #ableg #abpoli #alberta

A healthy way to respond to the CBC poll showing the UCP in the lead would be to engage with swing voters (probably not on line).

An unhealthy response would be to lash out at the pollster, the CBC, or Albertans generally.

The former might move the needle, the latter will not.

Maybe it’s the algorithm, but I get (far) more updates about the wildfire situation from Sask opposition leader Carla Beck than I do from Danielle Smith or any government officials in Alberta.
