The attitudes of Trump supporters and the policies Trump passes has been reminding me a lot of my time in Russia. But now, seeing national guard around cities and in metros, it REALLY physically reminds me of my time in Russia.

It all started when I saw a really strange, single comment on a post in the r/intelligence subreddit. The post was a weird, sci-fi philosophy sounding post with a single equally strange comment on it. I think the post was from a bot, and then I dove deeper in the comment which also seemed like a bot

Clearly John Fetterman wasn’t monitoring the different subreddits for federal workers. There was monumental agreement among gov employees to shut down as an alternative to hundreds of thousands losing their jobs unlawfully.
The weeks of performative “resistance” from those in my party were limited to undignified antics.
Voting to shut the government down will punish millions or risk a recession.
I disagree with many points in the CR, but I will never vote to shut our government down.

As someone whose regional focus is Russia, I do appreciate a congressperson addressing the American people and pointing out how Trump is copying Putin’s playbook. The U.S. is slipping into a system of blatant corruption, that mirrors modern day Russia.

As someone whose regional focus is Russia, I do appreciate a congressperson addressing the American people and pointing out how Trump is copying Putin’s playbook. The U.S. is slipping into a system of blatant corruption, that mirrors modern day Russia.

It has officially happened. I have been officially let go from my position at CDC. I wasn’t a probationary employee. I had stellar performance reviews every year.
I’ll be ok. But please understand that many worked HARD to get into these positions and were doing great public health work.

My friends in public sector are being laid off, are scared of being laid off, or just lost their pathway into public sector via PMF. My heart breaks for them.
