Who even knows anymore?
🎹 And late-night conversation turned
After the sun went down
Many criticisms were heard
The next day
Keep seeing capitulation
Books are burning, words all wrong
Keep seeing capitulation
Keep on earning, moving on 🎶

Our nanny tested positive for COVID a week ago last Friday. She’s been negative on RATs since last Thursday. How long should we wait before bringing her back into our home?

A staffer’s experience:

Republican callers generally outnumber Democrat callers 4-1; and when it's a single-issue (like gun control, or planned parenthood funding, etc...), it's closer to 11-1, and that's recently pushed Republican congressmen on the fence to vote with the Republicans.

Okay, I cannot recommend 5calls.org enough. Enter your address and it will find all your reps (federal and state). AND give you a list of issues to call about AND which reps to call about each of them AND a little script for each, in case it's helpful. They have an app, too.
5 Calls
Spend 5 minutes. Make 5 calls. Make your voice heard.

They are going to hold NIH hostage to force the senate to approve RFK Jr.
Scientists at the National Institutes of Health have been told the communications pause announced by the Trump Administration earlier this week includes a pause on ALL purchasing — including supplies for their ongoing research to treat cancer, Alzheimer’s, heart disease and many infectious diseases.

Anyone have any idea where to find a full-time COVID-conscious nanny?

I’ve always said there should be no maximum pay, but a maximum percentage of your lowest paid employee. No upper limits. And if all you employ are independent contractors or part-time employees, then there is a calculation for what they would make as a FTE and you may not exceed that percentage.

Why is the solution to empty federal buildings to force people back to the office and not to sell/rent the space or convert it to, I don’t know, affordable housing? DOGE is stuck in an old mindset.

The most productive teams I’ve worked on have been 100 percent remote.

I wish more people understood this instead of jumping on board the rage wagon thinking that this is somehow fast-tracked for kids.
Had my bottom surgery consult today and just thinking about the whole process. I called the surgeon’s office at the end of January to set up a consult. I first had to get an official referral, a letter of rec from my PCP, and 2 letters of rec from therapists. I managed to get all that in ~2 weeks.

I made a thing. A 14-post long 🧵. I hope that you will read it before pro-actively following me, and even before following me back. All the way to the end. There is a free link to the Oscar-winning movie "Missing" in post 13/14.
So, back in the 70's and 80's there were a number of campus activist groups: CISPES, CUSLAR, Amnesty International -- trying to get the US to stop backing fascist regimes in South & Central America by writing letters to congresspeople, educating fellow students, holding peaceful demonstrations. 1/N🧵

I always laugh when a certain type of man asks me “why do feminists hate men so much?”

My response is this … It’s never been about us hating men.

This thread. Read it.
Those Nazis marched through Columbus yelling the n-word and other slurs over a bull horn. You think the black people who marched the next day weren’t scared? Maybe our fear means nothing to you.

Black people in Columbus were scared and marched ANYWAY. Other scared groups just put out statements.

Young men ages 18 thru 29 voted for Trump in large numbers. If there’s any chance we have young ladies in here using dating services I would strongly suggest you start your conversation with them by asking who they voted for first. You might as well nip it in the bud and get it over with.🤣

if i've learned one thing from doing union stuff while also doing other forms of organizing, it's that you're better off with people you disagree with who are nevertheless trying to do the same thing as you than with people you agree with who aren't trying to do anything

Thanks to the first Canada acquired H5N1 case, there’s an uptick in “bird flu pandemic imminent” and “omg it’s gone H2H!” posts. Those are not accurate.

However, given the situation in the US, I have some real concerns about this that grow progressively more grave.
