Care for us? True indeed! They ne’er car’d for us yet. Suffer us to famish, and their store-houses cramm’d with grain; make edicts for usury, to support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act establish’d against the rich, and provide more piercing statutes daily to chain up and restrain the poor.

I wrote one sermon this week about the reality of God's presence in unavoidable grief and one sermon about God's desire to bring us all health and wholeness.

They feel opposed to one another and yet absolutely related. What a weird place.

like the wideness of the sea;
there’s a kindness in his justice,
which is more than liberty.
There is welcome for the sinner,
and more graces for the good;
there is mercy with the Savior;
there is healing in His blood.

All of Michigan's best history work is being done by Canadian historians.
On Aug. 9, 1842, one of the most important treaties in Canadian history was signed.
The Webster-Ashburton Treaty did many things, including reaffirming the border of the 49th parallel and how the Great Lakes would be shared.
This is the story of that treaty.
