I've been thinking:
If I had a date, and I just invited her to my place, or somewhere cheap like a movie theater, or somewhere free like a park, that would be a sign that I respected her.
Taking her somewhere expensive would imply that I saw her as shallow and overly concerned with social status.

I'm going into Metroid Prime 4 determined to enjoy playing a new Metroid Prime game, but it does seem like they set out to distill every recent trend that goes against the series' core identity which I don't like, and then doubled it, and made that the focus for Prime 4.
