Your body, your choice. And frankly none of my fucking business unless you want it to be.
The closest we get to seeing empathy be at all toxic is usually reserved for a one-on-one relationship, where someone’s lack of boundaries means they get exploited. Not *checks notes* giving a shit about fellow humans

Why is the Venn diagram of people who chafe at the idea of toxic masculinity and the people who use the phrase “toxic empathy” a circle?

Speaking of healthcare. Let's make @bsky.app the platform that fights misinformation. Some great follows are @drsusanoliver.bsky.social @jsm2334.bsky.social @therealtruther.bsky.social

Let's get them more followers and engagement than other platforms and let health science accounts find a home

To everyone having a tough time in the first (holy fuck not even a week?!?)

While you feel your light is dimmed, it is still a light in this world, and nurturing that light is an act of defiance and rebellion

My daughter wanted to watch something after she wandered in as my son and I finished the Super Mario Bros Movie. Rolling the dice that this is the time to introduce her to Lord of the Rings. So far, she seems invested and is asking questions about some characters

At first glance I thought that was Jill Stein sitting down at the table with her back to us

Look, if cranberries can be weird and bitter and still liked by roughly half the people at Thanksgiving dinner, then so can you!

I would totally rewatch a Love Boat remake with Hannah Waddingham in a lead role (overtired parade thoughts)

I seem to recall Ross Perot saying he wouldn’t take a salary if elected president. Seems a rich guy who truly loves his country should not take money from the government so that money could idk, feed a kid or provide healthcare to someone in need?

This is what they meant when they said “share the good news”
Just a reminder that there’s an app available for your TV called PBS RETRO where you can watch all sorts of wonderful old pbs shows like Mr. Rogers and Reading Rainbow, you know, in case you might need that sort of energy right now

Petition to re-pronounce it this way
My mom from Korea asked me if I was on the Blue-skee thingie. It took me a second to register BlueSky.

I'm calling it Blue-skee from now on.

I haven’t understood Instagram since about 2019. Some stuff gets seen by thousands, and some stuff barely gets seen by close friends. There used to be engagement on posts but now it feels like a coin flip for an algorithm

To me this is the beauty of all the different types of art. When it makes us explore ourselves and our notions of the world, and how it can be transformative. Art, like humanity, should inspire us to connection with the humanity of each other, not hatred.
Jimmy Somerville is a real one, and I'm glad to see him say this. "Smalltown Boy" was the first piece of art that made me question my own ingrained homophobia as a teen. Glad he's not going to passively let it be used to implicitly condone transphobia.
Jimmy Somerville, magnificently telling the LGB Alliance to get it up em.
