More than 200 people braved a cold rain outside City Hall on Thursday night to call for abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and to denounce the killing of a former Kansas City woman at an ICE agent’s hands.
Kansas City protesters call for abolishing ICE and remembering woman killed by agent
A protest organized by the Party for Socialism and Liberation attracted more than 200 people who came out despite the wet, cold evening. Many carried signs with pictures of Renee Good, the former Kansas City woman fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis earlier this week.

I am begging you, as a gift to yourself and everyone else in the year of our lord 2026, stop sharing screenshots from the nazi bar on Bsky. Go over there and share it if you want to? What's that? You don't want to because that place sucks? Well you're starting to see where I'm coming from then

For all that the media has spent years freaking out about what social media does to our brains, I don’t understand why there appears to be little effort to grapple with the fact that these chatbots are, for some not insignificant portion of the population, literally psychosis machines

I don't know who needs to hear this, but opposing GenAI is not about opposing technology, it's about opposing capitalists.

GenAI is not a technology: it's a massive automation of theft, masquerading as an industry, run by grifters.

Don't hate computers, hate the capitalists behind the curtain.

Man imagine if California made its wealthy people pay real, fair taxes and used some amount of that money to make art grants for tv shows on the level with the stuff Canada was doing in the 90’s. Everyone in the MPI would have a job again.
Billionaires are considering cutting or reducing their ties to California by the end of the year because of a proposed ballot measure that could tax the state’s wealthiest residents.
A Wealth Tax Floated in California Has Billionaires Thinking of Leaving
It’s uncertain whether the proposal will reach the statewide ballot in November, but some billionaires like Peter Thiel and Larry Page may be unwilling to take the risk.

Imagine the torture for kids and minors who can't come out to their parents and can't leave
Or parents who want to care for their kids but can't afford to move
Fucking monsters in power commiting literal actual genocide against trans people and it's just happening. No votes or anything
Kansas will end all access to hormone treatments and other gender-affirming care for transgender minors in January. To keep getting care for their children, some families are opting to leave the state entirely.

Just a reminder, big companies asking for free art in the guise of a contest isnt altruistic for the fans, its a way to get free concept art you will lose all rights to after submission win or lose. Recognition is minimal as well if thats important to you.
