For all the “MBJ can’t act” opinions, I do think he deserves credit for playing two different twin characters and making them distinctly their own personalities. That’s not easy to pull off.

Also one thing regarding Mary and Sinners. There’s a lot of focus on her whiteness, but it’s the implied experience of her mother that establishes her positioning in the story.
In other words, Mary was likely the first person in the family to present as white enough to “pass.”

My Sinners conspiracy theory is that Mary was included because Ryan and Zinzi were tired of y’all inaccurately citing the one drop rule for every biracial person you don’t like, and they found and utilized the perfect actress who embodied the actual definition.

re-upping my position that raimi’s spider-man 2 is the single best superhero ever made, one of his best movies, and also the closest thing anyone has ever done to putting a silver age comic directly on screen
rewatching raimi's spider-man 2 and what's killing me about these movies is just how laser-focused they are on class dynamics. 14 minutes in aunt may starts crying because she gave peter 20 bucks for his birthday and he tried to turn it away and she's ashamed she can't afford to do better by him
