My best advice for parents re: harmful content: show genuine interest in the stuff your kid is watching and doing online.
Let them talk your ear off about Minecraft and Roblox and the funny video they just watched. Make them feel excited to share with you, vs making them feel ashamed or judged

A sad day. If you haven't read Assata, it's a terrific recounting of her life in her own words and the events that led to her radicalization and arc to a revolutionary figure. Get it from your local library or used bookstore.

every time we talk about parental permission in terms of book banning I'm like fuck man. kids have rights too. a 17-year-old should be able to check out books at the library without Mom and Dad stepping in. so should a 10-year-old or 7 or whatever. kids deserve SOME goddamn freedom and privacy
