Some lessons from #Willows as we navigate a period of major fear and uncertainty for a lot of us. I’ve learned a lot from Willows, but what inspires me most about them is their ability to grow through adversity.

As always, please take care of yourself and each other. ✊🏻💙🌌🐢🍉

The Portland Frog army has now infiltrated Tulsa, OK and they’ve made an unlikely alliance with the T-Rex infantry and Sharks on Hoverboards mercenary forces.

This is truly terrifying.

I helped update the guide for installing Affinity Studio apps w/ Wine on Linux. There's a lot of energy behind this right now. + Serif just made the announcement "Creative Freedom Is Coming" on Oct 30. Betting now that this will involve support for Linux github.com/seapear/Affi...

Every Star Trek episode that was derided as "unrealistic", where Kirk argues a computer into destroying itself, is vindicated.

This is a fascinating story: SEGM commissioned systematic reviews on gender affirming care, claimed they showed care should be banned, so the authors have released this statement saying their research is being misused and that it is unconscionable to ban gender affirming care:

For alternatives to Google Forms, Fillout is really good! HeyForm also seems like a decent option but I haven't really tested it yet. It's little things like this that make de-Googling not only possible, but exciting. I can do so much more with Fillout than I was ever able to do with Google Forms.

Phone screen and back glass broke because of a drop. When I was replacing the screen, I accidentally tore the front camera's connector (it's a cheap fix but I don't really want to replace it right now). So I patched up the back with black gaff tape and glued a makeup mirror over it. Kind of a vibe!

Trump muses starting a war to stop future elections.

Trump: "So you mean if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections? Oh, that's good."

Zelenskyy: "You like this idea?"

This is hilarious. I'm just trying to imagine how this conversation went:

BOSS: Hey, we just got these new decals in, can you post them up on the wall?

EMPLOYEE: Sure, I'll go do that

2 minutes later, without peeling off any of the stickers:

Israel has bombed and killed innocent people relentlessly for almost two years now. Shouldn't that be enough for the whole world to turn against it? Yet here in hell, many still support it as a nation "defending itself." Try telling that to the civilians who have found themselves running from bombs.

“Don’t trust everything you read online” was always good advice. Now it’s more important than ever with all the AI-generated lies we’re seeing.

It’s been over two months now since I switched to Linux - something I never thought would be possible, at least not for many years. But I pushed through some of my biggest hurdles, and now things are starting to feel familiar. I’m proud of myself for doing the hard thing and finding new liberty!

Calling your representatives is really pretty easy, even if you're phone shy. You're allowed to be awkward and stumble over words. Just get the point across of what you want to say.

I saved my representatives' numbers to my contacts so it's easy to call them. I encourage others to do the same!
I want to note that sometimes calling your Senators really does work.

Even Republican ones.

Note that Republicans themselves pulled this from their bill... true that it's likely because they could not get the votes from Dems, but they didn't even force the vote.
Incredible news for trans people - the Medicaid provision is out of the Trump horror bill. It did not require a point of order vote, and instead, Republicans pulled it out on their own, likely knowing they would lose the vote.

Good job to everyone for calling their Senators.

Today I found out Apple's weather app was showing 6⁰F less hot than it actually was outside. No wonder I was sweating like hell the other night when I had fans pulling air from outside.

Think I will start exploring wunderground.com a little more and maybe set up my own weather station eventually!
