Fascism rising. I remember 2 decades ago working w/refugees from Angola (as a trauma therapist) and they would tell me about friends and family being arrested for performing political plays. They, themselves had to flee for things like just creating political art - this is how countries get there.
A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.

This is a valuable read. I have learned a lot this year about the ecological rebalancing found in damn removal and letting Pachamama find her way back to health. #damndams #damremoval #pachamamasway #naturalrebalancing
Last year, the final of four hydroelectric dams on the Klamath River were removed in the largest project of its kind in US history. The river that straddles the California-Oregon border has since been reborn.

Less than a year later, life has blossomed along its banks.

I was interviewed earlier this week by @realcatbrooks.bsky.social who asked "what are the signs you cite that we're living under authoritarianism" & I listed the ones I had, and didn't imagine that, just days later, I'd add "the arrest of an elected official in the course of his duties" to the list.

So many thoughts about “Sinners” & how this movie did so much, disrupting so many boundaries.

Saying the true things out loud and in public. Thank you to CBS Evening News anchors for saying it all. 1) corporate capitulation... 2) to serve a merger... 3) and a full bending of the knee.
Check out how the anchors of CBS Evening News ended their broadcast tonight:

SCOOP — The US sent Iraqi refugee Omar Ameen to Rwanda via new diplomatic relationship in which they've agreed to act as a "third country" for deportees unable to be safely returned to their country of origin, per cables reviewed by me.

This is first reported instance. Cable indicates more to come.

A State Department cable indicates at least 10 more people will be subjected to the same.

More of this please from all our political leaders. Due process for one is due process for all. Due process abdicated for one will come to be abdicated for us all. #dueprocess #humanrights
I filmed this yesterday on my way to Lousiana where my constituent Rümeysa Öztürk is being wrongfully held by ICE. I’m there now demanding her release. More to come.

Grateful to @rokhanna.bsky.social's honest & authentic answer to my question about many Democrats' unwillingness to speak up and be brave regarding due process & disappearing of my immigrant siblings across the USA. Grateful for bright lights of leadership in a shadowed sky of political silence.
@rokhanna.bsky.social amply fills the seat at the #NJ7 empty chair #TownHall. “If you’re a Democrat and you’re not willing to stand up and speak out you should get out of politics.”

Do. not. wait. That goes to you - my House Rep @mikiesherrill.bsky.social and you my other Senate representative @kim.senate.gov . We (I) voted you back in/newly in this past election cycle. Speak up for us. Speak boldly. Be leaders. #immigrantrights #citizenrights #dueprocess #moralitybe4strategy
Trump said he wanted to take away due process for immigrants–something conservative judges think is unconstitutional—and he did.

He says he wants to ship American citizens to foreign countries, believe him and do not wait to speak out against his abhorrent actions.

Note to all democrats in office not doing something bold, something engaging personal risk, and by the way politically the right move right now and every day forward....we see you and we see when we don't see you. It actually matters.
Turns out you can shape the agenda with dramatic action and maybe even shift public opinion. Crazy.

It’s Easter today. If you resonate or just find the history or mythos an important narrative in this moment there is no greater call to action. In the Abrahamic lineages it is one of the greatest calls to action - to speak truth to power, to speak for the refugee and the most marginalized person.

Wish congressional reps allergic to saying the true things they are afraid are not popular (like kidnapping and disappearing migrants without due process) would take this note. Wish my reps weren’t afraid of boldly representing us. People I just invested in with my vote. #andykim #mikiesherrill
It can be true that both tariffs are bad and denying due process is also bad

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Sending people w/out due process to El Salvador is horrific but people with brown skin/visa holders/global tourists are already being detained for no reason. I am already building my own safety and emergency plans. I am infuriated that no democratic politicians are talking about this.
