Listen I am never one to defend the general horrors Britain has committed throughout history, but this is hilarious.

Slave ships like "let's disguise ourselves as someone the British won't kick off with!" and bad news, there's no one.

I think I have chilblains on my toes, which seems unfair as they're caused by rapid changes in temperature and I've been keeping my feet pretty cold all the time.

After reading The Wager, I get why it was a ship in the Ship of Theseus thought experiment. In the 1740s ships were basically rebuilt after every voyage. They were battered by weather, rotted by seawater, and eaten by worms, termites and beetles. Ships still being built were already rotting away.

I've been reading The Wager, about a mutiny, and after a couple hundred pages of brutal misery the last few chapters are like a hilarious fever dream with everybody doing the most, including a selection of agreeable Patagonians, one of whom was called Martin.

Incest discourse reaching new heights; just saw someone complaining that Eve was made out of Adam's rib so they have the same DNA. Actual quote: "I do not understand why Eve could not have been made out of clay as well."

Just upgraded to Android 16 and I find the new system font offensively ugly and there's no way to change it. For fuck's sake. Why does everything get incessantly worse?

Delighted to learn about this Japanese artist who was like, Gaugin in reverse. Saw some Western painting and went "Amazing! Inspiring! I have to get some of this in my art, I'm moving to Paris!"

Several tabs left open because they are for sharing with a particular person who has not yet responded to my last share and I don't want to overload them. Their day will come.

This is a fountain to commemorate Georges Cuvier, a great French naturalist considered by some the father of paleontology. At first I thought Georges Cuvier was depicted as a semi-nude woman - a bold choice - but no, she represents Natural History. I'm sure it's what he would have wanted.

I would prefer social media not to surreptitiously conceal crude language (undefined) from me but I guess these days that's a pipe dream.
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

I dreamed it was election day in the US and I opened a rather odd satirical pamphlet to find rainbow unicorn yuri inside. I wake up and it was apparently election day in the US? I proceed with cautious interest.

Listening to a French tour guide earnestly explain that sometimes if he doesn't know the English word for a thing he tries the French word with an English ending. The French: they're just like us, really.

This is a great moment for a canon divergence where Jiang Yanli wakes up to find she's been deposited on a random monk and hijacks him for the roadtrip of her choice.
i love when he shows up to introduce the concept of mountain mama's boyfriend repair shop and then play impromptu uber driver to evacuate an ethically roofied sister from a dubiously consensual larp scenario resulting in experimental wizard surgery

You know I'm reading The Big Four and it's astonishingly like a Bond novel only instead of a suave spy it's a fussy Belgian detective. Straight up hollowed out mountain base for the secret society intent on dominating the world with atomic power and an honest to god death ray.

Scrolled too fast on Tumblr and thought a passionate "you may think it's wrong to compare this pain to the transatlantic slave trade but -" was in reply to a post expressing solidarity amongst fat girls crying in dressing rooms.

I am not sleeping for normal reasons and my mind is going weird places. For instance: A-Qing is maybe fifteen or sixteen when she dies and I really hope that poor nutrition meant she hadn't reached menarche yet because can you fucking imagine?
