Listen I am never one to defend the general horrors Britain has committed throughout history, but this is hilarious.

Slave ships like "let's disguise ourselves as someone the British won't kick off with!" and bad news, there's no one.

Naturalists have criticised the depiction of the crocodile, as in reality they are unable to turn their heads. Fair, but guys, did you not see this snake? What the fuck is going on with this snake? Why did the sculptor think snakes had a full mouth of teeth?

This is a fountain to commemorate Georges Cuvier, a great French naturalist considered by some the father of paleontology. At first I thought Georges Cuvier was depicted as a semi-nude woman - a bold choice - but no, she represents Natural History. I'm sure it's what he would have wanted.

If you've ever wondered how they transported their fancy bicorn hats around without squashing them, wonder no more.

OK "jiang cheng got his ass kicked by xue yang entirely offscreen and it just never came up in the story" is the absolute funniest thing. Sure absolutely.

Also Mr Ira Aldridge, one of the first Black American actors and theatre owners in Britain. Mr Aldridge is noted to be "the only Actor of Colour that has ever been known, and probably the only instance that may occur," which even at the time was a teeny bit exaggerated.

Saw some cool old playbills today. Behold Pablo Fanque, the first Black circus owner in Britain! Born 1910 in Norwich, became an acclaimed equestrian, owned a successful circus, had a magnificent moustache.

Now walking along a canal path. It looks pleasantly rural in this picture but there's a road ten feet to my left. Not a very busy one, though.

Visited Bar Hill fort on the Antonine Wall, which is further north, more ruined and less famous than Hadrian's Wall. Behold, the bathhouse.

It's a beautiful autumn day in Scotland, which is to say I'm damp with both sweat and icy rain while admiring the blue skies.

I am having a Day, but I did get to see this guy, who also saw me. He appeared to have less positive feelings than me about the mutual beholding.

Clicked on the alt text to find out what was going on in this picture and technically I did but I still don't feel like I know what was going on, you know?

Really misread the title of the sepia book and thought "Philip is an odd name for a phoenix, I wonder why - oh."
