Apparently the castaways had been cast away on one of the nomadic people's regular campsites so after initial "what the fuck, who are these starving freezing white people" the indigenous people just shrugged and set up alongside them.

At one point helpful indigenous people appeared and I was like "oh no" and then the castaways started drinking and harassing the indigenous women and I was like "OH NO" and then the indigenous people very sensibly departed in the night and I was like "phew".

Anyway it was a really interesting book.
