Whoever posted that clip of Miss Piggy singing “Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat” clip should be rotisseried, I will NEVER get that out of my head.

You know what, if I have to suffer we all have to suffer:

Today I burned my upper arm on the stove (weird move but I managed it) and it was a little blistered so I taped a piece of clean gauze to it and I’m pretending there’s a tattoo under there.

I realized that I was so eager to tell @therachel.bsky.social about my being a concert know-it-all for last week’s show that I neglected to mention that the concert itself answered her call to action- it was Aimee Mann’s “Lost in Space” anniversary tour where she only sang songs from that album!
Ep 411 is up! Andy eats a cookie & talks about Pyjama Man’s latest antics & Tracy Morgan singing U2. On Rachel’s Chart Chat, Rachel from Des Moines (@therachel.bsky.social) shares listener stories of full-album concerts, follows RATM across the pond & looks at a Christopher Cross singles collection.

An Orthodox Jewish man came to my apartment today to inspect for something (which I’m happy to say turned out not to be present.)

I used the word “shmutz” and he looked surprised and asked where I learned Yiddish. “My dad is Jewish,” I explained.

I guess I don’t “read” as Jewish to observant Jews.

I watched the first episode of “The Beast in Me” and it features Chip Zien both making reference to “a path through the woods” and to off-screen characters “the Bakers”.

THIS WAS JUST FOR ME, RIGHT????

A little improv for my Caldinho de Feijão on this chilly day. I had Ayocote Negro beans instead of black turtle beans. I had pork knuckles instead of a ham hock. I had to cook it longer. It came out delicious. Beans as always by @ranchogordo.bsky.social.

Just an incalculable loss from which we won’t soon recover.

Alice was the best of us and I hope we all do (or keep doing) the kind of good work that burnishes her memory.

Fuck ableism. “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”

Finally catching up with my podcasts. This week’s #ChartChat made me feel a twinge of shameful recognition when @therachel.bsky.social correctly described the phenomenon of the bigger fan at a concert overexplaining each song to the lesser fan. That was me & my sister at Aimee Mann this year.
Episode 410 is available! Andy talks about helping his mom look for a car, his 25th wedding anniversary, and SweeTart Ropes. Also, we listen to a clip of the singer of Linus. On Rachel's Chart Chat, Rachel from Des Moines (@therachel.bsky.social)
delivers her report on seeing Yes in Omaha on Nov 7.

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

Rookie move on my part: packing the jar of Creole mustard in my carry-on and losing it to the TSA. I forgot mustard triple wrapped in bubble wrap is a liquid or gel. 🤣

It dropped 25 degrees overnight and the clothes I packed are just on the edge of comfortable. This is not quite the “blizzard in Copenhagen and I only packed a sweater and a trenchcoat” trip but… 🥶

My current ear worm is the ending credits song from “The Facts of Life”, which in my opinion is even better than the opening credits song.

If our flight to New Orleans gets cancelled on Sunday we will be taking the full cash refund and spending the next three days eating good Chinese food on our sofa.

Friendly reminder: If your flight gets canceled or massively delayed in the coming weeks and you booked directly with the airline, you are entitled to a refund, not just a voucher. But you have to decline any rebooked flight, credit, miles, or voucher they offer.

I went to Flatbush proper for an eye exam and on the way home I bought Campari tomatoes for literally 1/10 of the price they cost me half a mile away in Kensington.

Also the eye place was a 100x better than the bougie place I went to last year in Park Slope.
