You can really smell their desperation that they might lose access to a chunk of vulnerable population they purposefully or ignorantly misdiagnosed, and whose misdiagnosis as psychological made money for these practitioners.

These complex illnesses are often more prevalent in women and you can see the waft of the pseudoscience of hysteria in what these physicians claim. Imagine if they did not bring up sexual abuse as a reason for disbelieving women's complex physical illness. Because of course they did.

Some in mental health are really bending backwards to dig up myths and pseudoscience to discredit complex physical illness and to claim it is, actually, psychological.
