Fun bet on scientific prediction :)

Take-home message resonates well with ideas in #culturalevolution and #developmentalpsychology, mental skills take time to learn, need social input, & they don't mature spontaneously. Challenging to pinpoint their genetics.

Your Genes Are Simply Not Enough to Explain How Smart You Are
Seven years ago, I took a bet with Charles Murray about whether we’d basically understand the genetics of intelligence by now.

In our 'Interventions' parallel session, Madison Vani starts us off with reviews of resources for parents to support their child's body image. Not so many available, often not age specific, not a lot of theory-based resources... Much work to be done!

We have a paper that was returned because the citations were incorrect - because we cited CDC data that are no longer on the website. How are others handling this? Are you using extracted/archived data? How are you citing it?

5/10 Loneliness levels remain relatively stable from adolescence through most of adulthood. Changes are typically linked to individual life experiences rather than age-related patterns, with some increase observed after age 75.

Interesting discussion going on about the academic publishing anti-trust case. But re this point, I often think it's not JIF that's key, it's having the right audience. There's one (1) body image journal in the world. It's Elsevier. There are c. 5 big audience #developmentalpsychology journals.
1/
"But I have to publish there because those journals have a higher impact factor!"

Sure. And who decided that impact factor is important?

The moment we collectively stop caring about JIF, every commercial publisher will go bankrupt. So, in other words, never.

Did you know? The way we praise children shapes how they face challenges. Generic praise like ‘You’re so smart!’ may backfire, making kids fear failure and avoid difficult tasks, since they link success to ability rather than effort. #growthmindset #parentingtips #developmentalpsychology
