After thinking about it for three years, I finally attempted to recreate my grandmother’s green tomato mincemeat (“mock” mincemeat) with the last of the tomatoes from the garden.
I haven’t been in the presence of this mincemeat since before my grandmother passed, 30+ years ago…

Y’all it’s only been nine years, 9 not 12, that’s how long these years have felt.
I forgot to say,
I am located in New York’s Capital District in the U.S.
I grew up in Southeastern Michigan, started my career in NYC and spent over 15 years there before we opened our restaurant in the Hudson Valley
Pizza Man and me before we opened the restaurant, and a million (12) years later.

I’m obsessed with cookbooks, food writing and media, food justice, social justice, CHEESE, seasonal produce, delicious food, preserving and reviving underrepresented food culture and traditions, genuine kindness and community, and really funny, quirky humor.
