Asylum seekers, housed in hotels in Manchester, are reaching out in their own words to address the concerns of the local community.

Please take a minute to read their letter, & share it with the people in your life who need to hear the truth about the people they are protesting.

3 things Starmer could do instead of camps in old barracks that would actually WORK👇

1. Create safe, regulated routes to apply for asylum in the UK

2. Let asylum seekers WORK & support themselves

3. Fast track status for people from obviously unsafe countries

The government's immigration policy is in desperate need of a bold change in direction.

Despite the documented harms of detention, which the Government has recognised, detention continues to exist.

We're campaigning:

1️⃣To shut down Derwentside - the main detention centre for women - and the small units for women at other sites.

This was inevitably going to happen, wasn’t it? Close the hotels and the lEgiTiMaTe cOnCeRns become about asylum seekers living in actual houses. Because it was never about the hotels, as such.

While the BBC listens attentively, nods vigorously and puts it at the top of its website.
'I'm angry. It's not right' - locals want asylum hotels shut, but are shared houses the answer?

300 antifacists gathered to prevent the far-right from harassing refugees. The few fascists who made it out of the house quickly dispersed after seeing our mobilisation.

Scrap the Surcharge! ❌

Borders in our health service take many forms:

▪️ The charging regulations, which see people charged up to 150% of the cost of secondary care
▪️ Identity checks
▪️ Data sharing between the NHS + Home Office

And the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) 🧵

Well, Yvette, maybe refugees are applying for family reunification as soon as they can because 1) they've spent ages waiting for status and miss their kids; 2) it takes ages for reunification applications to be approved; and 3) their kids are ineligible once they turn 18 www.gov.uk/government/s...
