Everyone’s job was safe, remember 😯

This was about increasing the viability of The Observer, and definitely *NOT* an exercise in cutting costs and sacking staff. And yet, it does look a lot like it was - weird 🤷‍♀️🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Observer staff were ‘banged out’ of the building this evening.

Our best wishes to everyone.

We have built a society in which people of different skin tones, religious backgrounds & cultures get along, share power, work alongside each other, procreate with each other, recognise the each other’s humanity and democratic rights. It is a STUNNING ACHIEVEMENT OF WORLD HISTORIC PROPORTIONS.
I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

Can the chancellor looking upset really tank the pound? With that kind of pressure, no wonder she normally looks robotic.

By betraying his voters so comprehensively and so soon, Keir Starmer has done us a favour. He has given us 4 years to design the government we want.
In this week's column I explain how it can be done. There's massive
potential, but we need to start now. 🧵

This doesn't seem like much on the face of it. Just a major breach of US and world security placing millions of lives in serious danger during war negotiations by a hamfisted, hapless US Administration.

The accompanying thread reveals how dangerously useless these dimwits are. So easily played.
NBC reports that, shockingly, during his latest Moscow pilgrimage Witkoff met with Putin and his two negotiators alone and without his own interpreter, relying - in breach of protocol - on a locally present one www.nbcnews.com/world/russia.... However, this seems half the problem (1/n)
Trump envoy relied on Kremlin interpreter in meetings with Putin to end war in Ukraine
Using the Kremlin’s interpreter was “a very bad idea” that put Witkoff “at a real disadvantage,” Michael McFaul, a former U.S. ambassador to Russia, told NBC News.

It should be obvious, but there are none so blind as those that will not see …
It's obvious that taking over major services and large budgets with no experience, Reform councillors will fail

But I take no comfort from that

It will result in further loss of faith in democracy

Which is Farage's real objective

My take on AI:

Rendering the planet inhospitable for humans by trying to render humans obsolete.

There are some good uses, but the focus seems to be on using excessive resources to replicate human interactions (badly). What is the point?
