Senator Cory Booker just broke Strom Thurmond’s record of 24 hours and 18 minutes for the longest solo speech in Senate history. Thurmond used it to block civil rights — Booker used it to fight for justice. The arc of history bends, but only because people pull it. Thank you, @booker.senate.gov.

Cory Booker has been speaking for 24 hours and remains cogent, focused, and astute.

A little punch-drunk and hoarse, but impressive as hell. "I'm not going to allow my inability to everything undermine my determination to do something."

It's been just about a month since we lost Sophie and just for a tiny moment this morning before I fully woke up I forgot she was gone, I thought oh I better do the litter box and then I remembered. 💔

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed legislation into law that reinforces protections for prescribers of abortion pills in the state. The new law permits abortion pill bottles to display the name of the prescribing health care practice instead of the individual provider’s name.
NY Moves to Protect Doctors Who Prescribe Abortion Pills Across States
“Reproductive freedom will always be protected in the State of New York,” said New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.

"That is the tension at the heart of Trump’s whole strategy: Trump is acting like a king because he is too weak to govern like a president. He is trying to substitute perception for reality. He is hoping that perception then becomes reality. That can only happen if we believe him."

The sweeping executive orders are supposed to make us feel hopeless. I refuse to let them.

So CVS recognizes customers don't want every single thing behind a locked cabinet but they think we're going to install the app to unlock? No, we're just not going to shop there.

It’s an open secret among medical professionals: Many drugs maintain their ability to combat ailments well after their expiration date. One pharmacist says he sometimes takes home expired OTC medicine so he and his family can use it.

(Published 2017, but there's no expiration date for this story)
The Myth of Drug Expiration Dates
Hospitals and pharmacies are required to toss expired drugs, no matter how expensive or vital. Meanwhile the FDA has long known that many remain safe and potent for years longer.

Family dinner for my SIL's birthday: our usual as loud/bad as possible rendition of happy birthday was interrupted by "um, fire?" as a plastic lid burst into flames on the still-hot stove. Put it out just in time to sing the last line before the birthday candles burned down. One for the books.
