Holy smokes— this exact thing happened to me. For a study I was participating in, I had to wait to initiate my checkpoint inhibitor treatment until some weeks after I had gotten my mRNA vaccine early in ‘21. Different cancer (Hormone+, HER2- breast cancer), but still. Exciting!
mRNA vaccines seem to work synergistically w/ cancer immunotherapy.
In patients, the vaccine acts like a siren that triggers the release of immune signaling proteins, instructing the immune system to attack tumors.
We need to funding for mRNA based therapeutics.

A surprise bonus from COVID-19 vaccines: bolstering cancer treatment
Patients who got shots of mRNA before starting a type of cancer immunotherapy lived much longer

Oh, man. I really feel like I missed an opportunity. Related: what’s the word for the grief you feel for a person you never knew existed until they’ve just now been gathered to glory?
couple people have asked for a source on this, it’s not from her personal website but from the FAQ section of a writing workshop she used to do

The Galloping Muse
The Galloping Muse uses four pillars—the universe, the muse, red/green/yellow, and the writer’s process – to teach the art of writing based on the simple concepts of energy and vibration.

Sounds like you were corresponding with three AI bots in a trenchcoat
Just had a literary festival try to assuage my concerns about their workshop with a “decolonially trained AI” by assuring me the AI isn’t getting paid for their session, as if my concern was grounded in the pay scale for the robots

DOGE is a criminal conspiracy to defraud the people of the United States
Oh dear you’re going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What we’ve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...
A whistleblower's disclosure details how DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data
A whistleblower tells Congress and NPR that DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data and hid its tracks. "None of that ... information should ever leave the agency," said a former NLRB official.

Donald Trump’s tariffs are the biggest tax hike in American history on working families, plain and simple.
Trump tariffs would hit lower-income Americans hardest
Tariffs are another blow to people struggling with higher prices.

As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do.
They can't keep spewing carbon.
They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying.
They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.

If I had a nickel for every time someone confused me with Reed Hastings, I would be a billionaire
For the past thirty years, I’ve vaguely thought that Reed Hundt, Reed Hastings and @reidhoffman.bsky.social were the same person. Thanks for bearing witness to my extremely niche epiphany!

Absolutely 100% this! How ‘bout we stop electing people whose only skill set is wrecking things.
The last three Republican presidents wrecked the economy. The last three Democratic presidents had to fix things. newrepublic.com/article/1933...
Of Course Trump Will Tank the Economy. It’s What Republicans Do.
As the president’s “Liberation Day” nears, it’s time to liberate ourselves from the vicious cycle of Democrats having to clean up the GOP’s messes.
