This is the legacy moment for Disney CEO Robert Iger, a man who once toyed with a Presidential run as a Democrat. You stand up for unpopular free speech or you stand against all free speech. There's no middle.

Not a historian, but to my knowledge, this is the first time a sitting US Senator — or member of Congress, generally — or perhaps any senior US gov’t official — has included an f-bomb in an official press release.

This is more important than you realize. Bluesky doesn’t downgrade links. Which means news sites will get more traffic from here than other sites.

Which gives them economic reasons to post here first.
Bluesky says it is now sending referral traffic through its "go" subdomain to make it easier for publishers to track the traffic coming from the social network (Sarah Perez/TechCrunch)

I don’t get why the smarter people in the party aren’t organizing loudly, just around these dingos.

Just act like Schumer doesn’t exist and go build a movement.

Call it whatever.

Everyone’s being so damn careful now.

As though their reelection matters if we never have elections again.
Chuck Schumer just gave a blank check to this, with the rationale that this very unpopular stuff will eventually become unpopular enough to oppose.

I would think there is ample opportunity for an opposition party right now, if anyone wants to lead one.
As Trump's threats to annex Canada grow more deranged, new Quinnipiac poll finds his approval on trade w/Canada at an awful 36-58. CNN finds 61% disapprove of his handling of tariffs.

DEI is fascistcode for “the Civil Rights Act of 1964.”

That’s what’s under attack.

Don’t let them lull you into thinking that it’s “only” policies aimed at addressing the white patriarchal ableist mediocrity that has been our nation’s default and giving others an equitable shot.

(“Only,” ha.)
Aside from The Noah being a full time fascism apologist, it will always be hilarious to me that DEI—which in practice has mostly consisted of motivational posters mildly suggesting the most reserved incrementalism imaginable—represents the bedrock of fascist claims to legitimacy.
