Books, planes, building things, family, the environment, democracy. Not in that order.

This is me speaking only for me.

Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... ANTIFA.

The bell is tolling very loudly for all of us.

Lincoln Square isn’t TdA, or Antifa, or even (unfortunately) that diverse. Leafy, fully-gentrified neighborhood where people go to have kids when they still want to live in the city.

They’re trying to tear us apart. Don’t let them.

Just as a marker, fascists suck.

And the trains won’t run on time.

One more layer deep…
"mommy why is Teheran a green crater" "well, this one video game about depression got a good review from an ex boyfriend..."
They have made the world living hell for no reason whatsoever. People will ask why this happened in a decade and there will be tremendous effort to make it more complicated than “they were evil, stupid, and bored”

Today seems like a good opportunity to ask!
This here is a good question.
Joe Gallina: If you could speak directly to Donald Trump, what would you tell him?

Gov. JB Pritzker: What does Vladimir Putin have on you?

I went on a tear with these years back, completely forgot about the site, then found my way back via kottke this evening.

This one works way better than it has any right to. Kudos.

Critical, fact-based reporting appears biased. But it’s not, at least not in the way that makes it sound bad. The bias is in the bad behavior being reported. And it’s the GOP that’s been biased toward behaving badly for a long time now.
So much going on in this text, which was written — we could also say "lived" — by NPR's media reporter. The most important in my view are these words from a former CEO of NPR, Vivian Schiller.

"Any evidence-based news organization that reports critically is going to be accused of left-wing bias."
How bipartisan support for public media unraveled in the Trump era -- my analysis for NPR.

@georgewhitesides.bsky.social

Why are you voting FOR this very flawed bill?
Shoutout to my rep, @repdean.bsky.social, for voting against it.

I suspect most of these people skate by, but some of them are going to have trouble explaining to their constituents why their biggest accomplishment in Trump 2.0 was voting for his crypto scam bill.
The House voted 308 to 122 for the GENIUS Act, the corrupt crypto industry bill to set the stage for the next financial crisis, encourage money laundering, and bless Trump's corruption.

102 Democrats voted yes, including 4 out of the 5 memberships of House Dems's Leadership Team.

488 days until we can re-take Congress. That can lead to impeachment (Prez and SC). And that can lead to a government capable of looking forward, valuing truth and allies, and righting so many of the wrongs we’re currently dealing with.

That’s a long time in Trumpist years… LFG!
