A strike is a last resort but University Medical Center is refusing to recruit and retain experienced nurses.

Tariffs on pasta. Come ON
Trump trade war costs US Italian pasta: “Exporters say import and antidumping duties totaling 107% on their pasta brands will make doing business in America too costly and are preparing to pull out of U.S. stores as soon as January.” Via WSJ

There’s also the little matter of the violent pogroms being carried out by lawless thugs, with record funding, who answer only to Stephen Miller and are showing every day that they are not bound by any court
Still upset about no power of the purse language. You truly do hate to see it. The Trump admin undertook the most expansive set of illegal budgetary actions of any president in history, and broadcast as loudly as possible they’d keep doing it, and nothing. Budgetary lawlessness.

Democratic organizers did our fucking part. We gave Democrats a clean sweep on Tuesday so Chuck Schumer have leverage to negotiate.
Instead, either because of malice or sheer fucking incompetence, he is letting his caucus fold like fucking cowards.

Chicagoans fighting to the hilt for our neighbors for weeks on end and this is the support we get from the “party”? it’s despicable
Every disaffected Dem & swing focus group we do begins with people asking what's real. They hear, at times, this is authoritarian takeover threatening lives & livelihoods. But perceive most "leaders" not acting as if this were so.

This is, essentially, a stealth repeal of Obamacare

A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations.

i hate this pathetic “party” and this sclerotic legislative branch and this feckless opposition
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Like, I know we don’t talk about this so much anymore, but it was an article of faith in the pre-Trump era that, like, the most important thing for a mature state to do was create an environment of predictability for businesses. That was always also true for regular people. Now neither gets it!

the truth is, I have no idea -- and several states, in fact, did not have any idea -- how this guidance would be implemented and what it would mean in practice. which is the problem, of course. it creates only more confusion around a program in serious trouble.
NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...
