you start fixing this by actually allowing a new generation to take control of the levers of party power. the current gerontocracy that runs the party is stuck 30+ years in the past that thinks that a good hit on cnn or a nyt op-ed remains the best way to get the message out to to the voting public.
the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

again, seeing a LOT of discourse here from people that aren't from and likely have never visited maine slamming people for "defending a tattoo" and missing the point about what actually makes this guy popular with actual voters in maine. we'll never learn. ever. we'll just forever point fingers.

i'm amazed at just how many people on this app have such strong deadset views about a candidate in a senate race when they don't live in that state. i say this because actual voters in that state seem to be all on board with said candidate. like a real political poll showing the cancidate with...

can you imagine the furor from the beltway press and the media and pundits if a democratic administration did stuff like this blaming the r's for a government shutdown? www.wired.com/story/govern...
Federal Workers Are Being Told to Blame Democrats for the Shutdown
Workers at one agency were given unhinged, partisan language to use when setting out-of-office replies.

honestly, jj watt's look with the hairdo and the old school glasses just *works*. he looks like he got lifted right out of '75. they needed to give ian a matching pair of old school glasses. the modern rectangular ones don't work with the throwback look.
But why does Ian Eagle's throwback stache look so right?!

was all of his "advice" basically bullshit free market techbro bullshit where the real fix is taking away regulation and letting the techbros "reinvent" society in their image? because that's how they ALL operate and then throw hissy fits when they don't get their way and then back conservatives.

credit where credit is due. the cubs fo has built a very good team that looks poised to compete well for a while.
The Cubs have agreed to a multi-year contract extension with team president Jed Hoyer, a team source tells the Tribune.

i'm sure we'll soon be hearing from aipac how these jewish groups are absolute traitors to israel, etc., etc.
INBOX: Union for Reform Judaism, Central Conference of American Rabbis & American Conference of Cantors issue a lengthy statement declaring:

"Starving Gazan civilians neither will bring Israel the 'total victory' over Hamas it seeks, nor can it be justified by Jewish values or humanitarian law."

i FULLY expect the rank and file are over this and say trump won. and it will overwhelm the parts of maga that are angry at trump, because the only recourse they truly have is to stop supporting him, and they won't, bc owning the libs is more important to them. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
‘Get over it’: some middle America Trump supporters remain unfazed over Epstein files tumult
New revelations about Trump’s relationship with late sex offender dominate the news, yet many Trump boosters say they’re overblown

neil and stan were up there like dan and keith or rich and stu. i know sportscenter is fully irrelevant in this modern age where you have the score on your phone before it happens (seriously!) but back in the day, sportscenter was a cultural institution.

i remember the days around 1998-99, right when adding a website to your ad or commercial was becoming mainstream, adding your aol keyword to the same was also pretty normal. a very different time in cyberspace.
I'm old enough to remember AOL Keywords.

Basically, the hashtags of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

all progressives need to sit up and pay attention to how zohran is running his campaign. direct talk in friendly language, highlighting something that will benefit all new yorkers. no greivance, no chastising. this is how you do it.
The 14th Street Busway has been a smashing success: faster commutes, fewer crashes, calmer streets.

So why is Eric Adams blocking a similar plan for 34th Street?

if anyone's surprised by the diddy trial outcome, go on max and watch s1e2 of the boondocks, the trial of robert kelly. that was 20 years ago and the sentiment in that episode is still the exact same one that we have in this country. i'm honestly surprised he got convicted on any charges at all.

can't wait for the out of touch morons running the democratic party to bury their heads in the sand and ignore what makes young folks actually get out and engage with candidates and actually turn out to vote.
b-b-b-but I was reliably told young people don't vote

i love how for a number of years, the #apple approach has been to make macos more like ios. this year, they've finally realized that it's better to make the ipad work more like the mac, esp given that the ipad is basically a macbook air in disguise. that's going in the right direction.

this is such an example of how broken we are as a society. look, sydney sweeney is a beautiful woman. no argument from me. but soap made with water she was in for a commercial? this is gross, and creepy, and an indicator of how fucked up our treatment of women is. and i'm a cishet man saying this.
