Incredible self own for the US. The damage being done to the US scientific enterprise is generational. We will look back on this as a tipping point where the US chose all on its own to stop leading the world in science.

If you're Governor Waltz, you're using Minneapolis state and local police to assist in the arrest of protestors. If you're Jeffries and Schumer, you're refusing to call for the abolition of ICE. If you're 7 Democrat legislators, you drew the short straws and are voting for more ICE funding.

Donald Trump wants to own Greenland. Canada might be next.

One thing is certain: if he does attack Canada, there will be plenty of right-wing media figures and Conservative supporters who will happily justify and defend his decision. #cdnpoli

Let’s pretend that Renee Good had protested against ICE. For Trump and the DOJ that makes her a “domestic terrorist”. For Kristi Noem, then the shooting was justified. I would expect nothing different from someone who would shoot their dog because it displeased her.

I've just started reading this new book by Shekhar Khare, a renowned number theorist at UCLA, and I highly recommend it. It takes the reader on an intellectual adventure, with very illuminating analogies and vivid storytelling. It's a book about some brilliant math, but it also has a great heart.

Glenn Hall was my hockey hero when I was a kid. He pioneered dropping to his knees with pads splayed to cover the bottom of the net, a technique called the butterfly. Today almost all of the best goalies incorporate some aspects of the technique that Hall invented.
