It's now official: an Enterprise-D in real Lego.
It's bigger than I thought it would be, and I'm glad they included @wilwheaton.net & Whoopi in the minifgs. But I'm still underwhelmed.

I think it's well documented, Mr. Jacob.

This degenerated into a bit of silliness, but there's a nut of truth here. Evangelical Christianity could once define their followers as warriors of kindness and compassion. That goes out the window as they let bullies and fools lead them.
A bully believes that kindness is weakness. A fool believes that bullying is strength. A true warrior knows that a bully is weak, and that compassion and kindness are strengths they could never comprehend.

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross"
Actually its mostly absurd and full of lies so obvious they don't need to be debunked. (h/t Brandunaware @lawgunsmoney.bsky.social )

See my previous comment about a military coup.
you know, in more authoritarian countries, seeing that secdef is drunk by 10am and the president is a doddering old man who can't hold a train of thought for 30 seconds is the exact kind of things that gives colonels Big Ideas

The whole thing is worth listening, but at 34.30... TAKES OFF. ✨
I think I did some good work here overall, but my guess is that most people are going to want to fast forward to the 34:30 mark to hear me and "David" from North Carolina.

Reading the live reactions this morning, I'm kinda wishing for a military coup right now.

I’m really grateful for Pritzker. But that he’s so good at this also makes clear just how badly most other Democrats are failing to meet the moment.
In any other country, if federal agents fired upon journalists when unprovoked — what would we call it?

If federal agents marched down streets demanding papers — what would we say?

Authoritarianism — let’s not pretend it’s something else when it happens in our American cities.

@laurarbelin.bsky.social - Anyway you look at it, Dr. Ian Roberts tenure is dead. If he's a citizen, he can't run the school system without a license, and even proof thereof of citizenship will likely take months for a politicized state government to recognize & reinstate him. /1

At the end of the day, 2 things are clear in my current logic:
1) Barring an act of God, Dr. Ian Richards will be sent to Guyana or another extranational dumping ground ASAP after significant discomfort

4PM Today (Friday, Sept 26): Protest at the Neil Smith Federal Building in downtown Des Moines in support of Dr Ian Roberts.

Dr Roberts was detained by ICE in Des Moines and, apparently, driven to an ICE facility in Council Bluffs.

The building aesthetic strongly reminds me of the IM Pei wing of the Des Moines Art Center.
Calder Gardens opens today in Philadelphia, and it’s a big deal for the worlds of art, architecture and design. But when I spent a few hours there last week, it struck me as a musical experience.
The quiet music of Calder Gardens
A beguiling new art space on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway celebrates the sculptural forms of Alexander Calder — presenting them in a way that subtly evokes the experience of music.

Interesting. Thanks @segfaultvicta.bsky.social, I hadn't considered it from this angle. And yes, he could have run in 2028; he'd be 35 in October that year.
last night as i was trying to wind down for bed i had a unified theory of what the fuck just happened, and i wrote it down, and filed it under "well, i can't talk about this on main without sounding insane until and unless the perp gets caught and is provably a groyper"

anyways, great news! (1/X)

I was . . not pleased to see my building's flag at half-mast this morning.
Kirk didn't serve in the military or hold office. The war hero treatment -- half-mast flags, military guard, Air Force Two escort, calls for a statue at the Capitol or to lie in the Rotunda -- shows that for MAGA, service to Trump has become the highest, most honorable form of service.

Is that a three percenter shirt his dad is wearing? Thinking they were a bit more than just your average "registered republican". Looks like he wanted to be just like dad with his sunglasses on his hat and all.
