My novel Last Night at the Telegraph Club and 9 more books are under review for a statewide ban in South Carolina. There will be a hearing tomorrow 3/13. I'm not optimistic that LNATTC will survive this challenge, but it's still possible. Context here: www.malindalo.com/blog/2025/3/...
Telegraph Club Considered for Possible Statewide Ban in South Carolina — Malinda Lo

I don't think this is that complicated at all.

People hate different groups for nonsensical reasons all the TIME.

And there's always someone getting paid to stoke that fear.
I've never been able to make sense of the "world that hates and fears us" when they live in a world where other super-heroes just... aren't.

Like, if there was truly this prejudice against mutants with strange powers, it'd be held against all supes. FF wouldn't be celebs, all that.

It's Wednesday! Time for the brand new #WeReadsComics. Recommend a comic you think people should pick up this week!

New or old, say a lot, or say little. I'd recommend QTing with a cover, as it's comics. What's exiting you? Tell the blue sky!

4. This book hit me and crawled inside the same way that Watchmen did. I have read A LOT of comics/graphic novels, and this one stands out as one of THE books of its generation.

This aint an easy book, it takes thought/work to digest (again, like Watchmen), and it's worth every moment of that time.

In light of recent events around the world, its extremely important to wrestle with culture that directly addresses coloniality and imperialism. One of the best comics in recent memory to do so is 20th Century Men. Give it a read if you haven't already. Its worth giving patient consideration
TRADE RATING: 20TH CENTURY MEN, a cathartic and well-realized comic
20th Century Men is a singular masterpiece of the comics medium, and a focused tome on the essence of decolonial thought.
