Girl from the Burgh, made a career in steel. Retired now. Post food, pets & politics. Liberal, if that bothers you-tough. Also petty AF. And: #KHive, always. This is not a dating site. NOT a resister, no automatic follow-back but maybe a Block.
Okay, time to get off this app & go wind down with (hopefully) silly TT or reels.

I was a bit concerned to watch live results after the disappointment of 2024. All I can say now is, wow! I'm starting to feel JOY again. VA, NJ, PA, GA, & NYC all giving me hope. Waiting on CA.

My sleep has been so disrupted of late mostly due to what I hate to admit is some level of doom scrolling. My skyrkle here keeps my head above water. Thank you all.

Chicago peeps, my 1st Ward Book Club choice is "The New Chicago Way". Has anyone read or know about this movement? Chicago doesn't have a city charter. Movement is to create one. My understanding is it would take some power from the mayor. I'm curious to read it this week.

Ariella sums up my thoughts on the Maine senate primary perfectly. I read all the information on various candidates & ultimately hope the voters in Maine have the information THEY need to make an informed decision. I also hope Collins is defeated & acknowledge it's up to Maine voters to decide.
A primary is supposed to be the vetting process. Stop anointing Dems before we’ve had a chance to vet them.

I made a post when all the Graham Platner nazi allegations started, saying “LET MAINE DECIDE THEIR OWN ELECTION”

It didn’t go well.

Marches are not as effective as hitting them in the pocket!
I am totally doing this. I'm taking off work, I won't be going to the store, probably won't even be leaving my house. I mean, it's easy for me, but imagine if tons of people did this?

Even if you can't 100% disengage, cutting back by 3/4ths or even half would make a noticeable dent.

Full disclosure, attended the Chicago "pink hat" rally after 2016 election. And, for what? WW continue to vote for these assholes.
I'm torn about attending.

Waffling:
1) I'm 1m from Grant Park, easy walk.
2) There'll be plenty of people there, 1 more isn't big deal.
3) Have friends in targeted groups that shouldn't go, my ⚪️ skin should fight for them.
4) Worried it's just performative.

I'll decide at the last moment.

Thank you @pierceah66.bsky.social for another excellent thread.

Yes, it's long. That's because there's a lot to digest about these times.
Since I defended Rep McBride regarding the NON-BINDING Resolution that I strongly disagree w/ but ultimately view as meaningless because it was a political trap that would have passed either way for that racist podcaster because of how resolutions work, I feel I should expand. This is a long thread.

#IStandWithJay #UCLA

Jay Perkins has been doxxed & is currently on administrative leave pending an investigation based on a "school choice" advocate's false accusations. Jay has been a stalwart champion for diversity & inclusion. He has taught me so much history never taught in my education.

So much going on, I decided to treat myself to a professional pedicure. Self-care is important to combat all the negative energy around us right now. An hour's respite worth it. BTW, they are playing a mellow, jazzy version of Back In Black & I love it. ☮️

I'll be off SM for a day or two. Respect memorial posts related to 9/11/2001. I have my own 9/11 reasons. Husband diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma presenting with kidney failure 9/11/2002, a Friday. Passed 9/11/2009, also Friday. Glad 9/11/2025 is a Thursday. Next year will suck.

Peace all!

This thread is well worth your time reading, especially for my fellow WW.

1/? Let's talk about white liberals & their engagement with their white supremacist/MAGA friends, relatives, co-workers & neighbors. As I have mentioned b4, the guy across the street from me has a "Don't Tread On Me" Flag. First allow me to explain how committed he is to this white supremacist flag.

@stabbyspice.bsky.social welcome back. Right on point, I just got called a shitlib for my reference to a group that likely led to your suspension. Anyway, glad you are back & also happy for your good news!

Wandering down the TikTok path & so many Ozzie Osborne trails. He wasn't the Beatles, wasn't the Stones. But the connection he had to me ...

I will miss that crazy, loveable, dude.

RIP Ozzie Osbouene
