We are losing sight, in all the domestic chaos, of what is happening in Gaza right now. Starving and dehydrating the civilian population is murderous and contrary to international law.

If this reporting stands up (and it appears confirmed by multiple sources): devastating.

The EIS is the front-line SWAT team of disease detection in the US and globally, and also the training ground for new generations of public health workers.

No EIS, no boots on the ground for outbreaks. ->
Major news:

Entire first-year class of the Epidemic Intelligence Service must be out by 5pm, sources say.

Also: a major CDC contractor "just let go." Others may follow.

This is an attack on our ability to detect outbreaks.

More, with quotes from CDC officials:

Having passed up the opportunity years ago to run DOJ’s Civil Division, I’ve never run a large organization, let alone at DOJ.

So I’m no expert.

But I’m gonna spitball that if hundreds of your subordinates want to tell you to “go fuck yourself,” you might, perhaps, have a management problem.
Just to underscore the tension at DOJ at the moment, here's what one federal law enforcement official told me about the acting deputy attorney general:

"I, along with other career FBI and DOJ personnel that I’ve spoken with, really have one message for him and that is, “go fuck yourself, traitor.'"
Trump’s feared DOJ enforcer has a secret: He, too, investigated Jan. 6
The acting DOJ official behind a potential witch hunt against prosecutors and FBI agents who investigated the Capitol riot worked on Jan. 6 cases himself.

As a not so irrelevant aside, America was never “great” either.
“But, historians say, the past was actually much worse.

And so, they say, the phrase “Make America Healthy Again” makes no sense.

“As a historian of health, I don’t know what ‘again’ Kennedy is imagining,” Dr. Tomes said. “The idea that once upon a time all Americans were healthy is a fantasy.”
