The irony of my wifi going down while uploading my syllabus and having a “wifi and tech malfunctions are not a valid reason to request an assignment extension” clause is not lost on me right now.

Absolutely loving that I reported a comment on Instagram saying that the user wanted to round up leftists and drive them into the nearest lake and Instagram said it doesn’t go against their terms of service 💕

Imagine being born in slavery and living up until 5 months before the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Anna Julia Cooper is one of my favorite people in history. She was born on August 10, 1858, and lived to the age of 105.

I can't sum her up in a single post, but she was born 167yrs ago today

"this product is good because it's like having a pocket full of PhDs" just suggests to me you've never actually been in a room with a bunch of experts on a topic.

You think you're going to come away with a quick, simple, easy-to-digest summary of their expertise? Think again.

Grocery Price Update-- it's been a while since I've posted these, but I've still been keeping track. I can't figure out what the heck Google Sheets is doing to my bread graph, so I may have to move my tracking over to Excel.

Harvard, aka Resistance U, is taking advantage of the Trumpist NLRB to crush its grad student union by stripping it of 800 members.

Sounds about right.

I've spent years reporting on how democracies die. And I've noticed something: by international standards, Donald Trump is really, really bad at destroying a democracy.

And that should give us real reason for hope. www.vox.com/politics/410...
Trump is losing his war on democracy
Trump’s power grabs are dangerous. But he’s going about them all wrong — and facing effective resistance as a result.

My public speaking students' final speech makes them advocate for a charity and I have to say, this is my favorite speech assignment. I love hearing what issues they think are important and seeing them make connections with people doing the work. It's something that's giving me hope rn.

Stolen autistic valor is such a good phrase
A friend of mine has just made a great point - Elon Musk is actually stealing autistic valour, he can't be autistic cuz he doesn't like trains. He's just personally unpleasant, stupid, and lying.

Got asked today, “Why should we still have libraries if they take so much federal funding?” First off, they just don’t. Second off, a US without libraries is one of the ultimate failures its citizens could be delivered.
