A rising cost of living—especially for housing—has caused the highest ever Metro Vancouver living wage.

This is the hourly rate that a full-time worker must earn to cover essential expenses for a basic, decent standard of living and to avoid chronic financial stress.

Rural Liberal voters and urban Conservative voters keep getting shut out even when they show up in huge numbers.

A system that rewards geography instead of voters is not a real democracy.

Proportional representation would finally make every vote count.

The article doesn't mention health care costs. If insurance coverage maxes out, a single cannot turn to a partner's insurance to cover the difference. This can cost thousands annually for those of us with complex health realities. Canadians do not have truly universal pharmacare and singles pay

Plan is to reduce travel times from four hours to 60 minutes.

100% agree. I will gladly pay more taxes to invest in our social support structures. Not a cent more needs to be spent on policing or militarization. We are long overdue for a significant funding allocation course correction to nurture a more compassionate society centering care not punishment
I am so willing to pay a bit more tax for youth bus passes and bike & roll infrastructure. However, I am concerned that the police budget seems to keep taking a bigger and bigger slice of the pie. More police and bylaw officers is not an effective or ethical response to homelessness. #yyj

Scrap the focus-tested messaging. Communicate directly with passion and substance. And start advocating for solutions as big as the crises we face in ways people can understand.

It's not that every individual driver is a murderous asshole (I'm not!). It's that car dependency as a whole is dangerous. It's that cars are deadly when they hit people. It's that our society prioritizes drivers above all else. It's about a system that is dangerous for anyone not in a car.

Nothing worse than a party that refuses to acknowledge good ideas from other council members just to be petty and not give anyone else a chance for positive "wins". Especially egregious when the safety of children is the focus #VisionZero
Honestly gobsmacked by ABC's referral of my road safety motion to staff.

Halloween is the most dangerous night of the year for CHILDREN.

This was an attempt to use an existing process to keep CHILDREN safe, and ABC punted it to staff w/o offering an alternative.

Really, guys?
