Just finished. Wanted to make a heart that felt a little weathered. Quiet. Strong. Prepared

Turns out these old mittens made from upcycled wool sweaters are warmer than any of the tech gear we have
Handmade mittens, thick, cable knit, tiny bit of pilling, light warm neutral in color, square brown vintage button on the cuff. Large enough for my wide hands and stubby fingers. A couple feet of fluffy white snow in the background, out of focus. The temperature this week has been in the single digits.

First seedlings of the year for next season’s garden. This season I opted for the Silver Plate Eucalyptus strain rather than the Silver Dollar strain that I grew last year. I’m planting some yarrow today and I have some lavender and Echinacea cold stratifying that will soon follow. #gardening

Earlier today
Winter in New England. Edge of a forest. Mostly deciduous trees, one stretching high above the rest, the dark branches all thick with fresh fluffy snow. The sky is deep blue, and there are a few wispy clouds. Feels bold and breathtaking, but still quite calm and quiet. It reminds me to breathe. I took this photo with an old phone.

If two undiagnosed neurodiverse individuals had children, how would they know if their offspring were neurodiverse? Perhaps they would simply perceive them as sensitive, quirky, and fun. Just like their obviously awesome parents.

Randomly discovered that I could stick my shears to a wire shelf with a rare earth magnet. Little things bring geeky joy
A pair of Joyce Chen shears that I use to cut thin sheet metal. They have red handles and are still sharp even after years of regular use. I love them! Stretching
A spiral sketchbook, an x-acto knife, my hand holding a standard-sized pink pearl eraser with an image carved into it, and the print it made in black ink. The surface of the eraser is still covered with ink and the reverse image is visible. The little print is a full mug of coffee with steam rising. There are coffee beans mingled within the steam tendrils, the overall effect resembling a vine with leaves. The perspective of the mug is intentionally wonky. The relief is crudely carved but not terrible.

The second pair look less like skulls and more like alien squid
Highly-stylized dangly skull earrings, photographed on an old tree stump. Gorgeous winter lighting, bright and low in the sky, creating long shadows. The skulls don't have noses or mandibles. Their eyes sockets are large and round and spread wide apart, which makes them look cute. The skulls are hand-sawn from sterling silver sheet metal. The earwires are formed from scratch with sterling silver wire, and are partially wrapped above the connection. The earrings have been lightly oxidized and have a matte finish. They have a refined rustic feel.

One of two pair of skull earrings I finally finished today. Two months late. Happy belated halloween, everybody!
