New CD purchase! Found sealed in a chazza last weekend. The ‘Pres and Teddy’ album (‘56) w/bonus tracks from two ‘51 sessions. All recordings supervised by Norman Granz.

(The same pair of recordings was released on Columbia in the UK in the same year as a 10” 78 rpm shellac disc.) I had no idea field recordings like this even existed! This is music I should have heard, music I wish I’d discovered sooner. As someone who goes to the hospital every year for tests, it feels like I’m back in my hometown. If you’re interested, definitely give it a listen!

Arrived here via the sleeve notes to the CD reissue of Sonny Clark’s classic Cool Struttin’ album. Clark’s on piano and contributes three compositions to Green’s LP.
