This fight will not be easy.

What we're dealing with now is one of the worst stress tests our nation has ever endured.

With the exception of Elaine Chao and Usha Vance, Trump installed an all-white new @kennedycenter.bsky.social board of trustees. The only Black members are ex-officios designated by Congress. Authoritarian regimes always stifle the arts first. Pay attention.

#OnThisDay in 1900, “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” also known as the Black National Anthem, was first publicly performed by 500 school children in Jacksonville, Florida. The song was written by James Weldon Johnson and set to music by his brother, John Rosamond Johnson. #BlackHistoryMonth

Renaissance prices are NOT Cowboy Carter prices! 😂 Have fun. But like I said: I don't wanna hear none of y'all who just dropped all that money on Cowboy Carter tickets complaining about egg prices! As for me? I'm grateful that I can live (well) without eggs and without the Cowboy Carter tour...

Bey. Bee. (pun intended). I have disposable income & still couldn't bring myself to push the button on an $800 ticket. Where I wanted to sit was $746, $800+ w/taxes & fees...and it was a floor seat but not even a "VIP" floor seat. VIP was $1500-3K+ Y'all enjoy Cowboy Carter for me!

I don't wanna hear NOBODY complaining about the price of eggs who just bought a $800 ticket to see Beyonce's Cowboy Carter tour. Not none of y'all.

Still processing but I think Serena c-walking ala Wimbledon 2012 was, like, my favorite thing. 😀🔥 #KendrickLamar #HalftimeShow #Serena

I hope Jesse Jackson Sr. copyrighted his "I Am Somebody" speech and that the NFL paid him and/or Rainbow PUSH handsomely for that commercial. #SuperBowlADs

The Johnny Cash cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" for that "He Gets Us" commercial is the winner for me so far. #SBads

Well. I know who I'm rooting for. I'll just leave it at that. 😀
For only the second time, two Black quarterbacks will face off on the NFL’s biggest stage.

But NFL diversity is still a work in progress, writes @bymikejonessports.bsky.social.

Brave writing and essential reading about issues that affect SO many brilliant, able, capable, mission-driven, high-achieving people. If you are struggling with one or any of these issues, it is paramount to know that you're not alone. You are not alone and you don't deserve to suffer.

Barbershop was also the movie that made me realize once and for all that Cedric the Entertainer is unfunny and has no talent. (Sorry not sorry, don't @ me! 😂) How they let him play an "old" man with that terrible and annoying "accent" is beyond me. A distraction in an otherwise great movie.

My balance and sanity is rooted in a series of things, rituals, if you will. One of them is watching movies. So, yep, that's what I've been doing all weekend. Peeking at the news, shaking my head at it, breathing through it, and going right back to watching movies!

Barbershop is on and it's the scene where they steal the ATM. This movie was made in 2002 and I remember us thinking somebody trying to steal an ATM was soooo funny because it seemed so impossible. Little did they know they were starting a trend of thieves stealing ATMs AND getting them open. 😂

@davekarger.bsky.social Loved your commentary today about Sounder. I want to give a shout out to something I think all the commentary on this film misses, which is Kevin Hooks' performance. It rivals among the best child actor performances of all time and should have been Oscar nominated as well.
